These arrived in the mail today. 4 issues of a bi monthly mailer Proto was sending to their suppliers. eBay only listed 1 mailer but I saw 2... when it arrived there were 4 in the envelope. 2 of them have the envelope stuck to the cover but I think I can probably steam them off?

Very unique item! Would love to see more.
Some Plomb bits that rose to the top of a greasy neglected "box with contents" that I dragged home yesterday off of OfferUp.
Nice. Looks like an old Ford connecting rod socket in there as well.

Happy to knock another LA wrench off the DBE list at a fair price. An 1136. Only 4 DBEs left to finish the full LA set!IMG_20200902_193530862.jpgIMG_20200902_193802804.jpeg

Apparently, sometimes it’s a positive that Plomb released these unmarked 1/4” drive ratchets. The eBay seller listed this one at a reasonable price because he didn’t know who made it.

Today I had the opportunity to incorporate some tools I’ve picked up over the summer into their sets. The most dramatic change was putting the tools from my old 5295 into the nicer new box. The set is kind of a mix of a 5200-A and a 5200-B.

My wartime 3/8” drive set received some universal sockets and I decided to take out the wartime pebbles and go with the earlier ratchet and hinge handle.

Since I now have an extra 5295 box in need of refinishing, I’m planning to put together a master 1/4” drive set that was recently mentioned on this thread. I threw a bunch of the pieces in the box and took a picture. I’ll need to add the ignition wrenches and find a few more obscure pieces like the screwdriver bits.

I bought a few more modern Proto boxes this summer and am in the process of putting them together. I can sure appreciate the effort and search that goes into putting a set together from nothing

Nice! This is what I’m going for as well. I’ll have to get my stuff together for a picture this weekend.

Some Plombs found in their native wild habitat (or sitting in an antiques store).
A 6539 30" Ford Valve Lifter
An 814 14" Pipe Wrench

Really excited for the valve lifter as I walked by it 3 times before putting 2 and 2 together. IMG_20200904_161156685.jpgIMG_20200904_161200287.jpgIMG_20200904_161211300.jpg

Nice grabs! I didn’t know that flathead valve tool was rare? I bought mine for $10

Three new additions to the Plomb collection. The small 9/32 drive ratchet came from eBay. First one I've ever seen.

The curved wrench (which is original and likely from a military contract) and the push-thru ratchet came from another G member.

Hey Tin,
That 9/32" ratchet may be a 1/4" ratchet with a 9/32" plug. Given that the part number is a 47XX signifies 1/4" where a 9/32" is typically 47XX.
Very nice Plombs!

Really nice find on he 4748. That one is missing from my 1/4” line up, although I do have a 9/32” wf-8 with the same body. Maybe yours is some kind of hybrid. I thought the 4748 was a female 1/4” ratchet.

So you bought the ratchet and then you decided which drive you wanted, 9/32 or 1/4 push-thru. This is from the 39 catalog.

Did something fairly out of character and bought two sockets of a size/brand which I already have two or three of; the difference? The other two or three I have are not dated and these are.

When did they start hot broaching, again?

The two last sockets(5430; 5431) Appear to have never been used or sparingly, almost no evidence of striking and zero grease or corrosion.
