There is a nice 9990 up on eBay right now with an owner's nametag. I'd really love to have that box, but I think the shipping being $100 will throw me out of it considering I bet it goes for some money.

Anyway, I stole the pictures of the brass nametag on it. Anyone have any contacts or ideas if these could be reproduced?

I remember what a pain in the neck it was not having hose clamp pliers
Now, I seem to grab all that I run into

Oooops.....

Edit:
Big Ooops for posting in the Plomb thread rather than the Proto
Heres some Plomb stuff that I found this weekend

While at the Flea Market, a very nice older gentleman peeked over my shoulder while I was pulling this stuff out of a box of tools.
He asked if there was a 4" Adjustable in there since he collected 4"ers
He has over 400 in his collection.
Cool I thought, I wanted to chat with him further.
I paid, and when I looked back for him....****....he was gone
Darn it.

Back in the dark ages when I was fixing cars for a living, I learned to detest that style of hose clamp and would always replace them with stainless screw clamps. I still have a couple pairs of the pliers though. 😈

Here is a picture of the elusive 4796 box. I can’t remember where I got the picture.

The box that holds my wartime 3/8” drive tools looks just like your new box.

Here is my smaller 4700R set looking a bit like yours. Still missing a unicorn 4742.

The 4700R set actually came in a 5295 box.

While we are on the topic of elusive Plomb tools, I’m still having no luck finding one of these to complete my set.😢

I now have the 4742 to complete my 4700R set. It wasn’t inexpensive but I’ve been trying to find one for a long time. It came along with some other fairly obscure 1/4” drive tools. I’ll pick the most appropriate of the extras to go in the set.

This really abused probably wartime box arrived today from an eBay seller. It’ll get stripped, straightened and repainted. Should be a challenge. I took a chance and removed the attractive carpet lining that a previous owner had installed.

I really liked the carpet. Can’t wait to see the finished product.

If that rug had the same pattern with just a little red or, conversely, just a little OD green in it, I may have been inclined to reinstall it after refinishing, just for kicks - and to break up the monotony of plain steel, cork, or black rubber lining one sees in so many 3/8-drive boxes. But the clash of colors would bother me with that remnant. :)

I picked up this 3/8 drive spark plug socket at a swap recently and got it all cleaned up. Not super exciting but it’s the first I have found in the wild- 5020sp. Ab date code

I’m afraid that I went ahead and threw out the carpet liner. I began stripping and pounding out some of the many dents today. IMG_0092.jpegIMG_0093.jpegIMG_0095.jpegIMG_0096.jpeg
Edit… started work on the interior IMG_0097.jpeg
