Hold on to them screws if you got them. My last 3/4 Dr ratchet was missing on and they are a really odd size (12-24 I think with the counter sunk head).

Sent from my XT1030 using Tapatalk

No kidding on the screws! I have them tucked into a tool parts drawer nice and tight for future use if needed

I believe that it is 6 point. I just checked the catalog and it looks like the H in the part number indicates hexagon, in other words 6 point. Seems like I learn something everyday, but of course I forget it the next!

RAG: it takes time to make good collections and i can't tell you how many people I've asked for a vise or old tools and i'll continue to do so. did your TOOL GUY have all of those in the bag waiting for DA-VEEEED? WELL DONE SIR!!

looks like that box will be almost full maybe before you get it painted.

ALL: so i couldn't pull the trigger especially while still paying bills from my daughter's wedding, but i would have liked to. here's an old guy's working PLVMB tool set he had in his wood shop. you tell me if you might have sold a grandchild or something to buy it? i'm not sure who bought it, but I'm guessing it might not see daylight if it's not on EBAY soon. it wasn't cheap BTW cause a quality estate guy was selling off the guy's shop.

Well played on the plvmbs! I always score my best stuff from people I know or that know I am looking for something certain...It is almost like they are my drug dealers and are preying on me  It looks like someone painted some of those wrenches as the finish is more grey than metallic? I would have bought all them for $65 in a heartbeat and sold the ones I did not need to recoup the costs.

Here is a bit of an oddball I picked up at an estate sale yesterday. I thought it would be Plomb or Proto but it is marked Chevron.

Well it does look plvmb made but I did not know they made tools for chevron :headscrat. We know they made tools for Firestone but I am wondering if anyone else knew they made tools for chevron?

I got all this Plomb\Proto stuff this weekend trip, not a bad haul. Still have to get the gray paint off the wrenches though.

1 1/8 - 1 Proto with inset Pebble boxes
4" Proto LA extension
1" Plomb 1/2 socket
WF49 13/16 1/2 socket reverse Plomb signs
5416-S 1/2 - 1/2 drv
5275 1/2 - 3/8 drv
Armstrong 3/8 ratchet FA-51 looks PLOMB-ish to me... Yall know much bout it ?
Then of course the wrench hauls. One dual marked.

^^^you are right on the armstrong looking pretty plvmbish.... I have no ideas if they made them or not. Anybody else??

On a separate note, I was emailing a guy about some pebbles he was selling and he asked if I would happen to be interested in any other plvmb tools in addition to the pebbles?? Of course I am :) What ever made you think that:evil:

Based on what I see some PLOMB stuff selling for on Ebay, you should be okay. Remember that the "crazy bidding war" stuff is at its peak on Saturdays about 4pm - 6pm Pacific Time.

Thought I should bring this to the attention of the group:

PENENS 17-pc 1/4" drive SAE socket set w/metal Challenger box
(see ad text and photos for content)
used
$29.99 + $6.75 shipping now. 0 bids now. ends Sun. 03/19

RAG: since you can ship a lot of those Plvmb wrenches in a flat rate USPS box you might just clean them up and take a few nice pictures and put them up on Craigslist at a price you can live with. there are a lot of guys doing NATIONWIDE searches that might pay shipping if you can't find a local guy. of course use your head when accepting Paypal, credit cards and don't fall for the i have a shipping agent and a check for more money scammers.

there is no perfect method for selling tools and even 4C's thoughts of the bidders on Saturday night isn't always true on everything.

there is never much Plvmb in GJ's classifieds if you might want it to find a member's toolbox so maybe post an ad there too.

good luck and post up your doubles and triples here for those of us that might need one or more of them.

cheers

ALL: i bet Plvmb made tools for a lot of other companies like Chevron and Firestone cause they were some of the best tools made at the time. i'll have to look through some of mine for off brand names of Plvmb (look a like) tools when i get time to. that might be a while cause i just bought a few more new (to me) cabinets.

check out the metal cabinet thread if you want to get some ideas on good storage solutions besides Plvmb boxes.

RAG: you have my vote on the FLAT GREEN. see any green in the pictures i posted earlier this morning? keep your eyes open for SHAW-WALKER and LYON cabinets that come in this FLAT GREEN too.

good luck with the box and looking forward to seeing it's new color. did you already buy a label for it that i think one of our members in Oregon makes? he posted the labels on this thread maybe 3 months or so ago and i think he actually started a thread on the labels too if you can't find them let us know if you might want one.

i'm not sure which label i like better so i'll have a look and see if i can find them. do you have a favorite? maybe Smoke knows cause i think he might know the member and i think he bought some to put on his garage tool wall board he made.

Smoke: any ideas on the member's name or contact information in case Rag needs a label?

RAG: HOINIX11 is the member's name that made a few labels and not sure he still does or has any. it's not a high volume product i'm guessing and here's the thread i think Smoke started.

http://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=342164&highlight=plvmb

Twertsy made the one i'd probably prefer with PLVMB even though it's not original or if you can get color guess which one I and maybe all of us like.

cheers and

That thread pics has the green box and it has a shadow where the sticker was. Looks to be the same as whats on yours. Mine had the same when I got it, could tell where the sticker had been, so yours may be original.

Guilty as charged  I am currently selling some plvmb/proto/ p&c stickers on ebay under the user name beng9104... I posted them here for sale first but seems no one wanted them??? I put them on ebay and people have been buying them. I checked with hoinox11 and he said he is not currently selling on ebay so someone else here in Oregon is selling the logo on drivesitfar's beautiful box. I figured since the other ebay selling is selling those I would stick to the stickers I made. I am almost sold out of plvmb and proto and will need to make another batch! RAGtopTA I don't currently have a logo from the box pictured above for sale but someone else may have one on ebay? The only ones I am selling are the hammerstrike logo. I was thinking about possibly making a transitional sticker though...Would you guys buy them if I found a transitional logo like the ones on montana ford man's tool boards?? I have to order them in quantity of 10's... If you guys want stickers, feel free to pm me and I can get you squared away. I would discount them for members!

new guy here. Joined the forum after I had seen lots of good info on tools. This weekend I snapped the head off of my 1/2" breaker bar from Lowes that was 10 years old. It was a USA made one and they gave me Taiwan replacement.

I bought this on ebay for $20.

Speaking of breaker bars. Did they ever make a 1/4 in pebble? And is there a longer version 3/8" as well?
