I noticed this plvmb made set for sale on eBay. Someone needs to buy it so it won't fall into the wrong hands of someone who does not know plvmb made it

thats more than twice for what I paid for my damn 9998 tool box!

Shut your face, you got a smoking deal :rocker::lol: Really nice set and that flex driver is rare but out of my price range :D On a side note, I believe that is from the pieces drives posted a few pages back from the estate. I believe I also saw the puller that he showed us pictures of listed on the bay !

On another note, what do you guys think of this if I were paint the Big Box myself? I used a dark brown hammered finish paint on a desk I built out of angle iron and it cmae out outstanding.

http://www.homedepot.com/p/Rust-Ole...7EKYd_jI7Cx3gaE8FpUMQaAq0A8P8HAQ&gclsrc=aw.ds

The 3/4 drive sockets look great! I have a 3/4 pebble ratchet and maybe 2 sockets but wish to have a full set like that!

I don't know about the hammered paint above...if it was mine I might think about finding a nice flat olive drab to paint it with... I don't think you will like that color. Does not quite look right but a nice o.d. would be right on par for that box and would also not show runs like a shiny color.

yea I was kinda thinking the same thing... if that stuff was darker I might go for it.. I havent got but one dang day a week off right now so I haven't gotten it over to the paint/powder coat place yet. the sockets were here in my town!! Now I just need the ratchet, breaker, slider, and couple extensions!

Thanks to Jim, a new ToolArchives member and son of a former Plomb employee, we can confirm that the "grind-off" tools We so often find are the result of internal employee sales. They reportedly sold tools to employees very cheap but with no warranty. The grind prevented warranty action and tool resale for profit.

Just thought I'd show what was probably one of the best deals I've found collecting Plomb. Found this ToolMobile in 2015 on CL for $100. It was empty, but now I have it loaded with part of my Plomb collection.

Ok, I'm in. My first Plvmb LA. It is also my only. #5466 and it had an older looking Snap On extension on it. Couldn't leave it at the flea for $3.00.

Oh man :( So jelous of you right now with that sweet score !

I couldn't believe it when I saw it listed. Spoke to the guy, older guy. He says he had it about 35 years. I drove 40 miles at 830pm in the rain to get it.
I was overflowing my other Plomb chests, so this was perfect to house some of it. But I'm always on the hunt for the others chests I don't have.

i recently acquired some plvmb wf 17 extensions. 5 of them. problem is 3 of them are branded P&C but still have the wf 17 part number. are these more or less desirable than the plvmb branded?

P&C WF 17 extensions are not uncommon. I have one. Some people collect P&C.

Unlike Plomb, I don't believe that P&C supplied complete sets of WF marked tools.

Good start. My collection is also barely enough to consider the word "collection"...but I keep on looking. Cheers..

Another reason for grinding off the logo was if the part didn't pass QA for retail. However, all of the ones I had were fine, except for the ground off logo.

My tools aren't organized well enough to get a good picture of them. For this picture I just pulled out a sample of each ratchet. There are 4 minis because they are all a bit different. I'm pretty sure I have about 200 ratchets, most of them in the 1/4" size.

This is probably my favorite 1/4" ratchet.

That eBay set looks like it spent some time under water. I picked this one up at an estate sale yesterday and it cleaned up pretty well.
