You are lucky it was red and not green, otherwise it would have come home with me!

(just kidding, I am trying not to buy anything largish right now, not that I ever saw the ad.)

You mean like this green pressteel I scored off craigslist Portland a few weeks ago for $25[emoji38]??? Not a toolmobile but dang close!

Nice looking toolmobile Brian. Make that very nice. I suppose that's what I get for spending the whole holiday weekend under the house jacking joists and putting in a new floor all while neglecting my tool searching. I pop in here just to see what all I've missed out on and damn, nice score. I don't doubt there's still a few more beautiful toolmobiles left to be found though. The search goes on. Ed.

I had an advantage over all of you. I had shoulder surgery on Friday and have been (mostly) stuck at home with nothing to do except browse online listings for tools.

Today I left early for Salem to pick up my Toolmobile so I could make a stop at my favorite pawn shop. I found this 3/4" drive Plomb/Proto ratchet for $40.

Only one more hour until I meet with the Toolmobile seller!

Updated pix from this afternoon. Already posted in two other threads, but they belong here too.

The seller took the time to locate the lock bar last night after we spoke on the phone. It was nice having a conversation with someone who wasn't concerned about how much money this would bring but rather was more interested in knowing it went where it would be appreciated.

We met in a Walmart parking lot about an hour from my home and the seller was kind enough to load it as I had shoulder surgery last Friday and am not supposed to be doing any lifting. Now the box is gunna have to sit in the back seat of my Camry until I get someone over here to unload it for me. My 16yo would call this a "first-world problem", lol

Very cool! It's awesome when you find a great deal and the previous owner is glad that it's going to someone that will love and appreciate it. I scored a toolmobile down in the bay area (I'm outside Portland) about 6 month ago and it's sitting in a friend's garage. I need to get down there and pick it up! I paid $200 and it doesn't have the piston rack...so SCORE!

I picked these up at the habitat for humanity for less than $4... The flat tip is very long! The sockets are the plomb Los Angeles version and I believe they are early 30's ? They are not rope braids but are early. One of them is cracked but when I find cracked plomb sockets I buy them because I use them for pull handles for the lights in my garage! Better than throwing them away !

Those cleaned up well! I bet they were not very expensive either since they were rusty. I love buying plomb out of the junk bins and shining it up !

I just hope your light pull strings are high enough...I can imagine walking into the garage when it's dark, and getting clocked by a 1" socket right in the forehead. ;)

I saw this in a local antique store the other day. I didn't buy it but thought I'd post a pic here in case it's someone's holy grail of Plomb tools. I think they wanted $50.cd5219b174a7136ea35e0a3c70cf8a29.jpg7f49050669916b003f0caec1a15089a2.jpg

I can't believe this thread was 3 pages back!
A few pieces followed me home today, mostly Craftsman (U) stuff. I also found a small Plomb EC dated 5/16" combo.

Based on the dating from Tool Archives, this EC wrench should be May of 1943. Odd that it's still chrome plated. :headscrat

I think $400 is maybe a tad high but there is one on eBay right now for $999... I don't think anyone will buy it at that price. I think there was a member on this thread that looked at one in l.a. that was that price? Do you have any pictures ? How did you find it ? Was it your flea market hook up who finds you plomb stuff ? I think the seller of the one you are looking at is in the ballpark but see if you could get it for $300? Not all of us can find $50 tool mobiles with keys and piston rack like rileysan [emoji23]

Guys in the Pacific northwest grab those things for under 100 bucks complete with the top rack that this one does not have.

Even out here in the mid Atlantic region, if I saw one of these rare birds, I would not go a penny more than $150. Others may pay more but I don't see the value beyond $150.

There has only been one "guy" here in the nw who grabbed one for less than $100 and that was rileysan at $50 but by now we know his craigslist skills are way beyond ours [emoji23] the one I found for $25 looks like a tool mobile is made by pressteel but it is not a tool mobile and is green and is only a 2 drawer and does not have a rack or key. Rileysans killer find skews the market value in my opinion... I do however agree with how much you would be willing to pay. I don't know how much over $200 I would pay even though I want to find one of these bad !

That's a sweet roller you have there. Don't leave it near me or it will end up in my shop. :)

I guess I should have been more specific. Rily is one guy here who got one for 50 bucks but I deal with guys outside of this site too. The average Joe in the northwest can find them for around 100 bucks.

From what I can tell Plomb was pretty regional in their sales, so prices in California or the Southwest are going to be a lot different than prices elsewhere.

I have to assure you all, that the West coast is no longer a Mecca for Plomb Toolmobiles, if it ever was one.

I have only been collecting Plomb tools for a few years, so I don't have history on my side. However, I do my homework when it comes to tools for sale here in the Pacific NW - I daily check CL, OfferUp, and FB marketplace from Seattle to Southern Oregon - and there are rarely Plomb tool boxes of any sort currently on the market. For that matter, over the past few years, I could count on my fingers how many I have seen advertised for sale. That is not to say they do not exist, I'm just saying they do not come up for sale very often.

I'm giddy to have found a Toolmobile at all, let alone for ridiculously low price.

With that in mind, I'm happy to offer up my services to any of you. Seriously.

If you find a Toolmobile for sale here in the Pacific NW, I would be more than happy to crate and ship to any one of you at no cost (for my time). And by offering my services to hundreds, if not thousands of potential buyers on GJ for free, I would be shocked to have to perform that service more than once a year, if not less often. Such is how uncommon Plomb boxes are around here.

Yes, well said Brian! I have only seen one for sale here in the nw in 4 years of collecting . I missed out on it by a few hours as it was sold. The ***** who sold it for $100 had it listed in furniture not tools [emoji36] and it sold to some hipster here in Portland . Not saying I would not put it in my house and use it to hold things but I don't think that hipster has the plomb collection and appreciation for it like I have [emoji36]

Almost forgot about the chisels!

These and the DBE in the previous post were found in a tool box purchased from a thrift store. Broken down, I paid less than $1/ea

Had a good pawnshop visit today I think, one I have not been to before. They price Milwaukee and shiny Snap On stuff to the moon, but I got all this and more for $15
