Got it! I payed up for a 4704 trico socket on eBay. The last socket I needed to complete my set of 1/4” drive plomb sockets. That brings me to 48 different 47xx pieces. The final two may not even exist- a marked pin handle and a marked male drive plug.

well now you are all set for radio and carburetor work! 😂👍

But seriously, nice job!

Nice, It was worth it! My 1/4 inch drive plugs and pin handles are all unmarked, I think the marked ones may not exist.

Here is a picture of the elusive 4796 box. I can’t remember where I got the picture.

The box that holds my wartime 3/8” drive tools looks just like your new box.

Here is my smaller 4700R set looking a bit like yours. Still missing a unicorn 4742.

The 4700R set actually came in a 5295 box.

Here is where I posted the picture of the elusive box.

The only difference was the extra extension compartment. It was filled with decent quality taps and dies, and the seller did not want to separate them, and he also wanted to much for the whole package.

Difference between what and what? Some (maybe all) of the 3/8-drive boxes (i.e. 5295) are embossed with their part number on the lid. The picture Don has posted of a box that Plomb large midget drive sets came in, ostensibly a 4796, is not embossed with "4796" on the lid. I'm trying to figure out if anyone has ever seen one embossed.

No, I meant the only thing I noticed was the additional compartment.

Here are a couple of 1/4” drive extensions that arrived from an eBay seller. I prefer ones that aren’t chrome plated for my wartime sets but the short ones aren’t all that easy to find.IMG_6556.jpeg
This 1/2” drive socket came from a recent estate sale. After it came out of the evaporust it was kind of mottled so I decided to buff the discoloration off with the 3M 220 wheel.IMG_6549.jpeg

Today, I was at an estate sale. In the garage, behind some junk and camouflaged by a coat of rattle-can brown paint, I was able to spot a Toolmobile. It was topped by a Kennedy 520-style box with a drawer configuration I have never seen before. I made a deal on both, as well as a pile of other tools, and it came home for a very reasonable price.

The bottom drawer is missing it's back rollers. I'll have to find a source for either a replacement, or a bearing I can build a mount for. Other than the missing door for the lower compartment and the lock bar, it is complete and in solid shape. No dents and I haven't seen a broken spot weld yet. All the casters are functional.

I can see rust pitting in the are where the "racing stripe" was painted in the upper part of the sides and rear. Because of this, I doubt I will be able to salvage any exterior original finish. The inside, backs, and bottoms of the drawers is Plomb Red, and not too bad. I am tempted to repaint it in P&C colors.

Congratulations, Provincial!!! Please make a thread of repainting - looking forward to seeing it!

OTG - thank you for the post. Thank might come useful for my future fix of Blackhawk roller. Do you think they will hold a lot of weight?
