How about a little undocumented/undiscovered submittion today! A K21504 crowsfoot! I believe the original list was generated by Reed the famous Plomb collector. Always exciting to find an undocumented tool.

Happy hunting.

I'd never heard of Plomb before until I acquired this
3/8 ratchet and a couple of people pointed it put to me on the new arrivals thread
Will clean it up a bit , mechanism is very nice.
Paid $5 for this a and a mini pipe wrench
So I wanted to see what it looked like inside after all these years as it felt crus filled when I got it , I drenched it in wd40 and have used it like that.
Today I decided to have a look inside - this is before cleaning inside.
Is there any reason why I can't use facuet&valve grease to grease it ? It's just what I have lying around right now.

The danger with using thick grease is that it can eventually prevent the pawl from fully engaging and you break a tooth when you torque on it. Very light grease is what I use. With that said these Plomb ratchets are rugged, but faucet grease is very thick in my experience.

On a recent pick, I found this Plomb 4800 Midget Set 9/32”-drive box and when I opened it, it had all the original contents shown. My heart started beating hard enough that I had to plan how to exit the pick quickly before anyone heard it!
When is that from? I have a few with the 48xx part number. Could only find this one right now The little screwdriver socket

I would put it late war/post war. 48XX is 9/32" drive while 47XX is 1/4". All of my 48XX are black oxide finish.

Cool. It has a few we haven't seen yet, but my list has a few, these in particular...

20251101_221912.jpg
...that are not on your list.

Do you mind consolidating?

We should probably get an inventory of 48xx part numbers in that boxed set from @Fred Knox, too.
I think I have all of those. 2 different lists one for drives and another sockets. Wanted to divvy them up on tabs for easier reference than 1 long list.
Since we are talking about lists. Do you know of any additional K series Plomb tool lists from any records?

My Plomb 4800 midget boxed set’s contents are:

WF-10 3/16” socket
WF-11 1/4”
WF-12H 5/16”
WF-13N 11/32”
4812 3/8”
4814 7/16”
4866 flex handle
WF-9 sliding T

The “H” and “N” markings on the two sockets are half-size, if that makes a difference.

Thanks. Very interesting that it's a mix of WF- (they were literally made under contract for the US Army Air Corps) and the 48xx equivalents. I'm guessing they were using up surplus to fill in the 48xx pieces.

The meaning of those has never been revealed. I was keeping track of them at one point. One theory is subcontract designation.

Here is a Plomb box wrench form the 1945-1948 time period with the pebbled background. One side is marked "1/2 MFD. 1126 U.S.A. 9/16" and the other side with "9/16 PLOMB 1/2". There are what appears to be little plumb bobs on each side of the word Plomb.
Thanks again to AA for info.

R, it appears you posted this wrench before. I had to grab this when I spotted it with a $1 price tag this past weekend.
