Just scored this Plomb Toolmobile last week and it was very complete except for the lock key and some drawer dividers. These things weigh about 150lbs and are heavy gauge steel - but someone managed to put a long flat spot in one of the rounded corners. Don't know how I'm going to fit that yet as I'm not a body man. I'm either going to paint this myself or send it out for powder coating. Before the Toolmobile, I snagged this Proto Chest. It has amazing rounded corners that are flush with all sides of the Chest - a little different than the one Plomb had out. My collection of Plomb and Proto tools is small right now as I just started last year. I needed more tools and another roller like a hole in my head but I just can't help myself - the designs and workmanship were so cool back in the day. The Green SK box was another recent restoration I did.
Nice pick up on the tool mobile and the proto box. To me it looks like the tool mobile may have enough original paint to just wash and wax it ?? May not need a repaint?? The proto box is really nice to! I picked one of the proto boxes up recently and I use it for tool storage in the house! They sure new how to build them back thenNice resto on the sk box to!
Nice assemblage of Proto you have there. My first post here, found this board in a google search. A lot of neat info here.

Found a Plomb 5249 ratchet today for $1 to compare to my Proto Professional. I was looking at a pile of ratchets and the guy running the yard sale says, "If you like nice tools, you won't find anything good in there, those are all junk. When I picked it, the guy was surprised and asked why I wanted it.![]()

I'm thinking of swapping the head with the less worn components of my Proto. I did a test fit and they fit great. The Plomb had a lot more play in the head than the Proto, but I like the more slender head and handle of the Plomb. With the Protos components in the Plomb, it seems to be the best configuration, but I don't know if that's frowned upon.![]()
Scored this bruiser off eBay last week, arrived Friday. 3/4" drive transition ratchet!

Picked this rotating extension recently. No part numbers, only the Plomb name. 1st one I've seen although I've had other brands in the past.
Proto LA !
Here's my 1" to 3/4" drive adapter.
And a Plomb oil pan screwdriver socket for old Chevys. Anyone know what models?

Hey that is some good stuff you don't see every day! I don't believe the catologues specifically list what models the pan socket is for but I do remember them describing it as a "goat getting job "![]()
