9/16" tang drive socket and a matched set. The stamping seems to be different on these than all the other I have seen. They do not have the triangle o and does not have L.A. maybe Alphonse Plomb era?

Pressteel supposedly made all Plomb's older boxes.

Those are the Plomb "Big Bertha" sockets. Helluva find!

That's produced by Proto, under Vogel's patent. Vogel "Double Duty" http://toolarchives.com/node/1322

Thanks todd for the info. I may have the wrench that goes to drive the tool. Apparently alloy doesn't even have an example. Would you like me to give them a soak and have some for a reference on your site?

Re: ~ Plomb tool picture thread - show your stuff!

Lucky find today. Got this for a quarter at an estate sale. Been wanting one forever. Looks almost brand new.

Maybe the experts can help. The back is stamped "Morris B. Pendleton." If I remember he ran the company? I thought the back stamps were advertising for various companies. Anyone know the significance of the stamp on mine?

Re: ~ Plomb tool picture thread - show your stuff!

Yesterday was "Abused/Neglected Plomb Wrench Day." I picked up the DBE and DOE wrenches from a fellow I bought some cabinets from. On the way home, I stopped for a burger, and while I was waiting for the order to arrive, I surfed Craigslist and the 3/4" Pebble ratchet popped up. It was only about 5 miles away, so I diverted and bought it.

The ratchet works perfectly. The retainer ball was stuck, but a quick squeeze with the Channellocks and some ATF and it works great. I scrubbed her down with Purple Power and oiled her up after drying her off. Too bad they let her rust, but she'll still turn a socket.

The seller's pitch was "this is a quality US made wrench. You can put a pipe on the handle for extra leverage it you need it." :lol_hitti

Cool. It would be amazing if you had found Mr. Pendleton's personal screwdriver but his name is on others including Proto and Proto LA pocket drivers if you search around.

WOW!! What a cool find! I can't say with complete certainty but it does look like you found Morris Pendelton's personal Key-Driver!

If so, yes....You picked up a significant Plomb/Proto artifact for a quarter!

I'd be more than happy to double your money and pay postage!!

In January of '57 they were renamed to Pendleton Tool Industries. I'm betting its a reflection of that.......but really cool if they were in his pocket as personal giveaways!

Nice ratchet! I'm bummed I missed that one, but am glad someone from GJ got it. If you don't mind my asking, what did you pay?
