My tools aren't organized well enough to get a good picture of them. For this picture I just pulled out a sample of each ratchet. There are 4 minis because they are all a bit different. I'm pretty sure I have about 200 ratchets, most of them in the 1/4" size.

Welcome to the forum!

Nice showing of those little guys. I'm curious about the shortest one. What's the deal with that?

These are my Firestone sets made by Plomb. I've also included copies of the Firestone catalog to show that they were available in 1948.

Never seen a catalog for Firestone. That has to be the biggest Firestone collection I have ever seen.

There was a cat on eBay somebody Sniped me on last year. Must have been you Jim! Great sets! I have 7 or 8 sets but I'm missing a 3/8" drive set box.

I did some horse trading with some vintage blackhawk items with twertsy for these three 3/8ths sockets and this mini 1/4 ratchet. I was really excited to get this ratchet as I do not have any 1/4 drive ratchets let alone a rare one. This 4751 ratchet is labeled NR below the part number which means it could not be replaced under the standard warranty...Basically once you bought it you where an owner due to its delicate and small nature. It only measures 4 inches tall and is really small but I could see how useful it would be in tight situations(p.s. if anyone has an extra 1/4 pebble ratchet or extensions please hit me up)

Also scored these at the Habitat for Humanity, various mix of Proto Los Angeles, p&c, plvmb and proto

SK: NICE PLVMB **** SIR!!

can you maybe post up a few more pictures of your two top boxes. i didn't know Plvmb made one of those fold over top boxes or did another company make all of these and just put labels on them?

Thanks for the welcome. B/T/W, I'm the Jim that Twertsy referred to. I have never made it a point to take many pictures of my tools, and they are laying around all over my garage. I have a decent collection, but nothing like many people on this board. It got uncontrollable enough that I started specializing in the 1/4" drive tools. Here's an old shot of one drawer stacked two high. I will have to take a few out and take pictures of them. The Proto tool box on the lower left is full of nothing but Plomb. Top drawer is 1/4", second drawer is open and combination wrenches, third is enclosed (box wrenches), fourth is 3/8" drive, and the last drawer is 1/2" drive. The bottom opening is miscellaneous stuff. I've got other stuff scattered all over the garage. I have two complete 3/4" drive sets. One is the two ring version, and the other has four rings. Anyone know the significance of the two styles?

3bay: it is but you spelled it wrong PLVMBGASM!

OMT(JIM): nice tools sir and thanks for sharing. no hurry on more pictures of the top Plvmb boxes or all the cool stuff inside them and or the rollers, but if you'd like to post them and have time i bet that word in the URBAN GJ DICTIONARY will get used a bit more.

It will be a while before I can take new pictures of some of my stuff, so I'll just post some old ones for now. This 9980 box is primarily full of WF tools. The drawers also include many small wrenches (in addition to the WF's), and some screwdrivers.

My garage is more full of car stuff than tools, so it is a real mess. One picture is just an example of what it is like sometimes. Then there is a closer picture to the rear of the garage with several large sockets on top of a tool box. There's actually two boxes there with 1" sets in them. The larger sockets won't fit into the boxes.

These are the tools that belonged to my Dad. My nephew was very close to him, so I gave them all to him. Most of them have the Plomb logos ground off. You can barely see some of that in the pictures. The small black bag is full of very small wrenches that I remember using as a youngster. The green box is a nice, complete, 1/4" set. I like those narrow boxes.

All of these tools were prior to the legal issues in 1947-48.

Since we're having a Plomb palooza I'll help feed the addiction also.

Toolmobiles, Early 1940s, Pebble era, and 1948 transition. All found within 20 miles of my house.

Well, now we know why I can't find a toolmobile to save my life :) It is because you have all of them  I used to think I had a decent size collection with my wall boards but in between you and oldmantaylor, you just slaughterd me:bowdown: Really nice collections guys! Keep the pics coming!

I thought this was an unusual set, with the raised logo.

Great tools Jim, family tools are always the best tools. Here you go drives, the 100 HR box was added to the line late in the pebble era so not in the catalog until 1948. I believe there must be more around but the painted logo wore off.

Smokeshow, I have one more actually but it's in my office. They all came from the Portland metro area so I'd bet you'll find one sooner or later.

I am!! Im working on it man!! I have about 250 pieces now I think. Not enough time off though!

Have you ever seen any wrenches with this gray coating on them ? that big lot I got 2 weeks ago has proved to be a pain in the ***. I soaked several wrenches for DAYS in acetone and it didn't dissolve it at all. Wire wheel is the only way to get it off.
