In the process of moving my 1/2 drive plomb to the top of my tool chest. The drawer wouldn't close anymore. Picked up an 1-3/16 and a stud extractor this week along with a couple plomb goodies.44cfcb840aa3447b7a2a688cdeb3a449.jpg

Picked up 20 Plomb things this week, many pre 1927. This is probably the coolest piece I found, a 1" x 1¼" wrench, no date codes, no arrowheads, no model number. From what I can find, probably dates 1920-1926. This size combination doesn't show in catalog 6 (1926), so could predate that, or perhaps a special made piece for a customer. Also got a few other odd and rare pieces, Cadillac connecting rod socket, pre'27 model T cylinder head wrench, model T connecting rod wrench, etc.

Olson: always fun to see you post pictures of your Plvmb.

Mustang: can't tell you much about the wrench you posted, but i know you are in PLVMB central and hopefully you'll find more cause the Plvmb factory wasn't far from you where they were making these fine tools.

ALL: i found a few plvmb tools yesterday and a few were left for others to grab cause my wallet doesn't always have enough cash for everything i'd like to own.

here's the few items i found after digging around and sad thing i found out as i was almost done shopping was it was a guy's stuff i knew that passed. another good guy taken cause of CANCER. RIP STEVE!!

Sorry , I forgot one [emoji41]... I have found the screw drivers to actually be somewhat hard to find because people abused them over the years and destroyed them... I have trained my eye to look for the amber colored driver handles whenever I am looking for used tools!

I just saw your key-chain screwdriver. Remind me to show you mine when we meet next. Mine says "Proto" and on the other side "Peerless". My guess is that it was sold or given away through plumbing supply retailers. Found it at Restore in Salem in their display case for $5.

As an aside, I have been a stamp collector for more than 30 years. At an event at the Oregon Stamp Society, I had my keys out and a fellow collector saw the key-chain screwdriver. He then produced an identical P&C key-chain screwdriver on his own set of keys. I couldn't talk him out of it. Damn!

That is funny! I had a customer who had a p&c key driver that looked like your tire iron. I tried to talk him out of it but no luck ! It was really ornate looking

I think I know which one you are talking about. They are by far the coolest key chain screwdrivers I have seen.

I didn't see my first until last year at a flea market. I found another one about 3 months ago at an antique store. They are not common over here at all.

Why? right now its a functional custom weatherhead wrench, if you grind that off, it will be a poor custom line wrench, unless you are going to also patch the opening. I might grind the corners off though.

Picked up this WF-7 9/32" breaker bar this morning. It's missing the detent ball but is in pretty good shape otherwise.

I agree. The wrench is not restorable, so just round out the corners and it may be of use in the future. The steel plate keeps the cut-away box end from spreading under load.

If you drilled the plate large enough to clear whatever tube size the hex matches with, then cut out from the hole to the opening in the box, it could be used as a line wrench. The remains of the plate would help stiffen the box end. But it would still be just a weak line wrench, only it would not slip past the nut.

By the way, I have a Pebble 15/16 combination wrench that some idiot modified into a line wrench by cutting out the box end. I used it as a line wrench the other day and it did surprisingly well! I would have thought it would spread under load, but it did not.

Pretty good day for Plomb today at the fleal. Mix of 1/2" drive sockets, couple of Firestone sockets, 1/2" drive extension, 3/8" drive extension, and this massive 3/4" drive sliding T.

Ok Gents, I need some help on these 2 middle sockets. Member Humber2 stopped by my shop this weekend to pick up/drop off some tools. These sockets were amongst the lot he dropped off. Now, I don't know the source for the sockets as Peter is from NZ. I don't know if he picked them up while visiting here or brought them across the pond. Never seen those markings though. I put them next to Proto sockets just to show they are certainly made by Proto/Plomb/Pendleton.

Any ideas?

They are catapillar contract sockets. After doing some looking online they are the same part number scheme.

I had been meaning to post up my Plvmb collection, so here we go!
I keep all of it in a small box, so it isn't that much...

Some oddities

Some ratchets

And the little box

(There is more spread out in the shop and other boxes, and obviously there is some other stuff mixed in. I will do the Proto LA stuff later...)

Very nice collection. I see several piece that I don't have that I will have to add to my radar. You have alot of screwdrivers. I have yet to see a wooden handle plomb screwdriver in the wild. Are they plomb LA?

Collected all this stuff in the last week from a few different sources. One of my largest hauls in a time span of a week, now brings the collection to over 650 pieces.
The 2 single end wrenches are pre-1927 Model T tools, the 2 large open ends, one broken, are most likely C.1920-1925, the socket on far left is 6522 Cadillac socket, the socket next to it is a 1/2" drive D15 socket, no date code, pre-rope banding, so perhaps one of the very 1st of the square drive sockets made. All in all, a good Plomb week.

Them are nice and odd plombs. Thanks for sharing. I never see any of the pliers and older LA items here.

I don't know if I posted this here before.. I found this at Traders village few weeks ago. I'm not sure if its been owner modified to be line wrench or not. The catalog doesn't show pics of it just the number and specs. got it for a couple bucks either way.

Yes it is modified . It started life as a offset box end spud wrench that someone cut up... There is one on the 'bay right 'meow.
