JUS: my guess is that is a 3/4 Plvmb ratchet which is a beast BTW, but the 1 incher is huge and here's a picture of mine and i own both the 3/4 and 1 inch. a member posted this a month or two ago and it's one of my favorite old pics and i'm pretty sure it's a crate of new 1 inch ratchet handles.

RUSTY: nice group of Plvmb and even better looking box. thanks for sharing.

I had to run out to the garage and compare the 1/2 drive and 3/4 drive. I have never seen a 1 inch but I will acquire one eventually. The forge pic is absolutely awesome!

I don't really collect Plomb, mostly because you never see any around here. But I have found a couple things buried in with other stuff I've acquired...

An extension and a lonely 5422 11/16 socket...

Very nice ! I believe the wf8 ratchets are 9/32nd drive in case you didn't know... Not an issue if you have the sockets as well

I am aware of that..... I would like to be able to find the Plomb wf sockets..... I find them interesting since I live close to Wright Patterson Airforce Base

Is P&C ok for this thread too?

We all like p&c but it is best to place it in its correct thread ! Plomb has enough rabbit holes such as contract tools, tools made for other manufacturers such as wizard or craftsman and also lots of war contracts and unmarked stuff! We try to keep it separated [emoji51]

Very nice collection! I am really liking the red tool box and the little 1/4 ratchets! If you are interested in parting with one of the 1/4 drives, let me know! I have plenty of Plomb trades! Glad to see more Pacific North West guys getting in the mix!

Someday we will have to all get together for the first annual "NW GJers Duplicate Tool Swap". The smartest member among us will organize and host this event so he doesn't have to move his tools:D

Twertsy: unless you own your own plane you can fill up with goodies i think all of us would rather you drove an 18 wheeler full of your stuff instead of flying. :D

ALL: we've been talking about a PNW GJ SWAP MEET on this PNW thread last week that we need to organize maybe a few times a year or maybe more often.

https://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=314689

stay tuned and you guys from the PNW maybe that haven't posted over on that thread please do if you have time and want to.

cheers

OLE: yep but they really look at you funny when you've got a big vise or a bag of wrenches. that said they take your nail clippers, bottled water and let the tools on in most cases unless somebody has had to leave tools at the gate please do tell.

Twertsy: even better bring a FULL TRUCK and then FILL IT UP with some WEST COAST GOLD. i'm thinking we might get one as early as the middle of March, but it might take a few more months to get the first one scheduled since i don't have much parking or room here in the city.

stay tuned.

ALL: thanks to the PNW guys for posting over on that thread and if the CALIFORNIA guys want to drive up to the Oregon swap locations maybe in Salem please PM me or post on that thread.

cheers

Smoke those are some of my fav ratchets, one of the first sets I put together. Got all three.

They are some of my favorite ratchets in terms of styling ! I just have never found any in the wild and did not want to pay eBay prices to put together a set !

I had a pretty decent Craftsman Circle-U set, got it with a nice CMan toolbox at a pawn shop. I didn't have much cash on hand but they were nice enough to take my lowball offer when I showed them that's all I had in my wallet... lol.

I ended up re-selling the socket set on eBay for a substantial profit several months ago since I don't really collect ones that old and I know someone else out there could appreciate them more. The 1/2"-drive 12-pt SAE set was continuous even had a 19/32nd. The 1/4" drive ratchet had the pawl inside but the pressed-on lever on the outside was missing.

I found my set here and there and I think the 1/4 came from fleabay. I know I found the 1/2 at the big flea market in Dallas though.

I had him check for me on a number of potential trades and this was the first that came up ! I sure am loving it ! I think I have a few circle u 1/2 sockets and possibly the speeder but no socket box (yet [emoji3])

I got a Plomb WF8-S 1/4 drv ratchet and a socket in the mail today. Then at the flea market a buddy that's a vendor told me he had an adjustable he found for me. It turns out to be a Transition wrench! $10 !! I found something today, I got a Herbrand 6" adjustable in my pile at the flea market, and thought that sure looks like my Plomb... sure enough... Guess same company prob made them for both companies.

Interesting, I have a 4” Utica that seems to be the same. 800b5a7154abf903d2603c9c3cef64d0.jpgf41e8e84bfa479629ed1ccf65b19abc1.jpg

That's pretty interesting, I'm guessing the same manufacturer made them for a lot of companies at that time. there's a Plomb 4" that's just like your Utica on Ebay that's been there a while that's $350!!

Utica was Plomb's OEM for the adjustable until c. 1946, when they switched to J.P. Danielson. I'm in a hurry to get going to the flea market, but you can go to my Pebble Plomb Dating thread (the adjustable is one of several key tools in dating undated catalogs) for a more precise date.

I posted this set on the Garage Sale thread but it should probably be here as well. I found it at an estate sale on Friday. It is apparently an unmolested 3/8" drive set manufactured shortly before the metal restrictions of early WW2 went into effect. I was slowly putting together a postwar set which I can now take even more time to complete.
