Thanks to a fellow GJ member I have a Plomb LA 1/2 drive ratchet and then picked up the 3/8 for a good deal on eBay.IMG_20180531_185643511.jpeg

You must have a great memory Lugz!! Hey did ya see my Indestro vise was found in the 1935 catalog?!??!? I was so excited!
I did see that! LesserSon came through. I'm still convinced the anvil was made around the same time whether it was in the catalog or not. As for my memory, it's fickle. I can remember my locker combination from 3rd grade (that's 50 years ago!), but I can't remember my kids birthdays! Anyway, that thread is memorable. ENCO was apparently using any DBE wrenches they could get their hands on to make their drawbar wrammers, including vintage Plomb. The legal ramifications of that concept still intrigue me, as I commented on in that thread.

I shall go read through it later tonight when I settle down to my pc. Off the entire weekend with good weather and OT money to spend! Hope to find some good stuff!

'42-'45 advertisements in trade magazines have Plomb touting "31 Factories" under their contracting organization (Fleet) making tools for the war effort.

Dug up a couple from the basement. "31" from the Dec. 1942 Automotive Digest and "36" from the June 1943.

I was digging thru my 1/4" plomb and thought I'd take picture of the different 4769 drivers I have. I actually have one more I can't find at the moment, a war finish un-plated shank version. Anyone have any other different versions?
One of mine the thing in the back is made from square tube, it looks like the middle one otherwise. Also among that style, I'm pretty sure 1 is marked on the handle, and the other on the shank.

Can you provide more info on this "Enco" chromed tool, and maybe a better lit picture of their comparison?
This has me wondering...
Sorry, I need to retake that in good light, maybe after i peel some of that silly blue off.

Attached are the C sockets. As you can see the 3/4 drive look nothing like any Plomb or proto. The 1/2 drive looks identical.

A few weeks back I had asked about the plomb streamlined tools logo and d42 graciously sent me the logo I needed and I submitted it to Yeti as they make custom drink ware with simple designs! It was very easy to get done and took about 3 weeks from start to finish. Behold the below finished product. My wife likes pigs and so I had one made for her a few weeks ago. Hers is a 30oz and mine I have is a 42 oz I believe?

Here are my Plomb spinners. Three are marked on the shaft, two on the handle. While I was taking pictures I took one of the Proto spinners.

Thanks. The Plomb ones I try to find for my sets but the Proto ones just find me. If anybody needs a Proto spinner they are available for trade.

My latest addition from "The Bay". I got it for two reasons: It's the largest open end wrench I have; and it came from the estate of a Plomb collecting friend. The problem was that you had to buy his entire collection, which was quite extensive. It is 2 1/4", P/N 3572. Next to it is a 3/8" drive ratchet.

Picked up a Proto 1383 soft face hammer (no faces) with a good handle a few weeks ago at the flea. Found a decent deal on some faces on the auction site and installed them yesterday. Back into the user box it goes.

I picked up this Pebble Plomb 5649 3/4-inch drive ratchet at the flea market this morning.

EDIT: Added some additional pics.

Lugz,
That is a great find. I assume that would be one dated around 1945?
I picked up a few 1/2” drive pieces at the post office today. The 1” socket was a generous gift from RubiconJK and the others were eBay finds. They are all period correct for my 1/2” drive set.

So, digging through my various secret stashes, I gathered all of my Plomb/Proto LA/Proto/P&C pullers together, along with misc. spare parts I have collected hither and yon

The backups. Somewhere in this mess are a couple genuine Proto replacement handles, but didn't think of where I stashed them till after pics were taken.
