It makes me wonder if we should have a sticky with the important Plomb Empire facts linked to this kind of information.
I've often thought we need a stickie for each mfgr, with just one post under each thread containing links to certain threads or posts with important info for each mfgr.
However, there are a few more important stickies I would like to see first. Namely, a '
Read Me Before Posting' stickie (directing newbies to the Search function, explaining how Subscriptions work, how to post photos, a warning that there are no sales allowed with directions to the Classifieds, etc), a '
Common Threads' stickie (with a list of threads dedicated to major mfgrs, and a list of threads dedicated to types of tools - e.g., DOEs, DBEs, etc), and a '
Tool Cleaning Tips' stickie (with links to the many threads and posts on e-tanks, Evaporust, how to spot cadmium, etc).
If you can't tell, redundancy drives me crazy. Since we're stuck using a forum-based website to share our vintage tool research, the least we can do is stop proliferating redundancy. It's not about ownership, credit or ego. When every other week someone starts a new thread on a subject that already has a thread, it splinters conversations and continuity, and makes later searches by subject exponentially more difficult.
The problem is that between those General stickies and Mfgrs' stickies, stickies would take up the whole first page.
