#bay, I didn't;t notice the 3/8" up grade to the old 1/4" I like it! especially since it was wasted otherwise!

Have to remember that!

Yeah, it was a quick choice to convert as parts were missing and had the kit. Had better pics if I can locate them.

Are you sure it's not cadmium?

Sure looks like a chrome plating. I could be wrong but very shiny on both sides of the head and the cover plate. The rest of the handle has the more normal dull appearance.

And another slot filled on the pliers board. It seems pluers are so rare. I can find plenty of Proto LA but have only ever found this one and another in the wild.IMG_20190706_182850546_HDR.jpeg

Echoing everyone else Ragz! Good to see you back.

They are rare indeed. I have found a few in the wild but most have been online.

Nice find! The nice thing about adding small tools to the collection is that they don't take up much room!!

Got lucky in the plomb department at the flea market today, at least in volume. I picked up 8 1/2” sockets from 5440 down to 5414, wf 75, 53, 45, and 33 sockets, a 7/16 impact, a nice tight 3/8” universal, a wf-34 extension, and a 5467 breaker bar.

Got two big Plombs and a P&C today at the flea market

The top one is 1 5/16, middle 1 7/16 x 1 1/4, and bottom is 1 1/8 x 1 1/16

The finish is poor but the ends are actually in quite good shape

Nice. That is a healthy amount. It appears you have the "Low Bands" which I don't know very much about. They seem to have the bands lower than other sockets and in the same place as the transitional sockets. Would this put them in the very late 40s?

Also if you want to trade off that impact socket let me know.

I found a rusty extension and 1/4” spinner at the Tahoe flea Saturday morning. The tool I hadn’t seen before is the Plomb brake spring tool.

I’ve always figured the “low bands” were the newest of the plomb sockets, since the look identical to proto LA sockets.
And I’m up for the trade. I’ll send off a pm.

That has been my assumption as well. This 3/4 set came with a 48 catalog.

I’ve been wondering who was the manufacturer of these ignition wrenches? It sure doesn’t look like they were made by Plomb.

I knew that you had posted some recently. I just couldn’t find the thread. It’s surprising that Plomb was sourcing from Vlchek but I’ve seen weirder outsourcing than that.

Sorry, I should've been more explicit, Don.

Seeing those Plomb electricals, I now think there could be some 3rd order effects happening on this subject. Vlchek may not be the OEM for the early Craftsman and Merit. They may also be a customer. They are not known for hex throat openings on their end wrenches, preferring shallow basin throats, and they were never part of the implied Cornwell/Wright/MAC design "consortium". I will have to check my Plomb electricals (I only have two!), unless someone beats me to it, but I don't recall them having hex throats.

But Vlchek buying end wrenches from Cornwell/Wright/MAC group seems odd to me too, so who knows? It's possible they made hex throats later.

As for a connection between Plomb and Vlchek being weird, remember that they eventually bought them out. So, not that weird.

Plomb goodies from yesterdays flea.
1/2" drive extension, 3/8" drive Firestone extension, 1/2" combo, 1" socket is 3/4" drive and the 1/2" drive WF-56 looked to be in good shape till I cleaned it up and noticed a few small cracks...

I got somewhat lucky this morning and picked this up at the swap. I only recently found out these even existed. Before this year I didn't think Plomb made long ratchets.

Also picked up part of an 18" Proto pipe wrench but I didn't catch the fact that the removable jaw is a Rigid until I got home. :(

So I am finding out there is several variants of the adjustable wrenches that Plomb but their name on. This one has me stumped. This appears to not be JP Danielson or Utica. Anyone know the background on this oval style wrench?IMG_20190714_204203521.jpg

That long handle is a you ****! Those are not easy to find. I still need to find one in the wild. In terms of the wrench, ridgid made that style of pipe wrench so it could have been that way since new or could be a warranty replacement piece

Not long ago, I posted a Proto pipe wrench that was obviously made by Rigid. It was marketed as a heavy duty model. I'm sure the Rigid jaw was interchangable, and likely was sourced to replace a broken one.

I think that's Utica. EDIT: I don't have one like that to show but here is one on AA...

I second the Utica vote. They are the other primary maker of the non-angled jaw.

I noticed I missed a Bay 708 like that one a few weeks back. Did happen to snipe that one?[emoji2]
