Yeah, that's a light blue. And post 1940 acquisition. The catalog images from 1938 and 1939 make it look almost black. Darker even than the "Olive green baked enamel".

I would love to find a pre acquisition p&c tool mobile but those are as rare as hens teeth. Only person who may have one or seen one could be mr.x?? Anyone ever seen one? Those were a dark color I believe

Yeah, despite my previous 2 cent opinion I can't think of a practical better way to display/ separate the combo's than what you're doing. No matter how similar a 1940 "u.s.a." combination wrench is to the "Los Angeles" marked 30's one, someone would still have the feeling that it was only in their display as a placeholder because they hadn't found an LA marked one yet.

No I was talking about the first generation p&c tool mobile which is modular. But yes, that is a nice tool mobile with different side stamping

Ok, yes I did have that but it lives at rileysan’s house now. I was referring to the pre merger p&c tool mobile which is modular and is square. It is dark in color and I think was black or a very dark blue? I can’t remember who posted the ad but it doesn’t resemble the pressteel made ones

I found what I was talking about... in the 1940 p&c catalog.... this tool wagon is listed as a “beautiful green wrinkle finish with chromium trim”... I will post more in the p&c thread. I would love to know who made these

Went through a few online catalogs and failed to find this Proto 4768, a 1/4" driver. It seem to lie in no man's land between the 4767 Stubby and the 4769 Regular Driver. Plvmb has a 4768 in catalog 18A (1940). But it is a flexible shaft driver handle. I am not even sure what era to be looking for it, but I am getting no hits on search engines. Perhaps someone can tell by the lettering on the handle.

Nice stubby driver. There is a way to tell by the mfd but I cannot remember the years that spanned. There is a vintage proto thread that you could post on that may get you an answer faster.

Plomb switched from 'MADE IN U.S.A.' to 'MFD. U.S.A.' in January 1947. There are no Proto 'MADE' tools. I believe the 'LOS ANGELES' marking was dropped in 1956. If the difference between 'Proto MFD.' (with a period mark) and 'Proto MFD' (without a period mark) is a production years/era tell, I wouldn't know. That kind of later distinction, if it even exists, is beyond my interest/research/knowledge area.

My first FB marketplace find! Haven't got FB yet and I feel like the only one my age who doesn't. Anywho a 5651 3/4" ratchet dated 1937. Now I have the triple play of the LA push plug ratchets along with a couple pre 30 ratchets (DXR-3/4" and YR-9/16). From my understanding they never made the 1/4" or 1" in this era but have to do some digging to confirm.

Offerup is bad about keeping zombie ads on display. I think they believe that "fluffing" the ad count makes them look better! When I report non-responding sellers, nothing happens.

Congrats and looking forward to hearing about the next arrival! I'm on FB, and enjoy keeping up with family and friends there. I also like Marketplace and have bought and sold several things there. The Groups on FB are good also. I'm in a few of the tool groups, some bass fishing groups, and a Made in America group that is great for researching all kind of products to support USA manufacturing.

It's is very tempting for the groups as well.
Well here is a 3070 pebble I picked up that is in much better condition than the one I have currently. I have now come to the conclusion that the 3061 is the hardest pebble wrench to find period! I now have dupes on the 3070, 3065, 3062. I am still still siting at 79-1/2 out of 80 Plomb pebble wrenches.

Very nice. I don't have any of the 44 "***** punches" which I cannot tell the difference between a "center punch" (41s) besides the number. A simple google of what a ***** punch is and I have a definition in relation to a center punch. What did we do before google?
