The ***** punch was tapered sharper (smaller angle) than the center punch, as shown in Don's post. The center punch was intended to center a drill bit, which has sort of a flat point, so it has an included angle of about 60 degrees. The ***** punch was intended for marking or raising a lip around the dimple, so it has an included angle about half that of the center punch.
Congrats sir. Love to see it in the old Camry. Let me know the next time it's raining mobiles might have to make a raid trip. I think I could squeeze 2 in my car. It's raining Plomb Toolmobiles in Oregon, this week. This one came from an ambiguous listing on CL, 120 miles away. Seller had it under a rolling workbench and listed it for $50.

Edit: I added two captures from the ad, which should serve as a cautionary tale for carefully looking through online ads. According to the seller, no one called on the Toolmobile except for me, in the 6 days it was listed. Go figure ...

Very nice picking up that spud with original tag. The spuds are getting harder and harder to come by. I am still on the look out for the 3-1/8" size. Some plomb stuff from eBay. The spud wrench has it's original depot tag still attached from General Motors Corporation, Eastern Aircraft Division. Also, two drill extensions, 8" and 18".

If I had the time, this morning, I would have picked up the second Toolmobile that Smokeshow bought yesterday, and is sitting at my daughter's house. She picked it up at my behest, with only a little grumbling
Hah! Smoke texted me about that one last night, but as I never look at my phone...
Too bad, I think I am going to be in Eugene tomorrow. But, Smoke and I are supposed to get together this weekend to do a long overdue trade, you going to be around?
That is a new one on me Roy. At first I thought it was a WF-6, and had to go out and check mine to realize that isn't what yours is. Whatever it is, I now need to find one! Congrats!I did some early b-day shopping and finally locked down a Plomb anomaly I have been working on for a little over a year. Anyone want to take a few guesses? It's between the DR8 and the 704.Very nice picking up that spud with original tag. The spuds are getting harder and harder to come by. I am still on the look out for the 3-1/8" size.
The power drive drill extensions are an odd one and to have both sizes is very nice.
I did some digging and found it in the 1939 catalog. They brought back the DRH. It also fit perfect in the 1939 and 1940 5449 and 5448 ratchets. That is a new one on me Roy. I like in the catalog you have to write them for information on it. Must have been a special order.
I guess. Might be a tall order but you never know. You finding any unique Plombs?Super cool and what a great idea! So you know this means you have to find that spud ratchet now!!
Very nice. Looks like a newer variant of the last one. Did any have piston racks?Plomb Toolmobile #2 this week. I'm waiting for #3 to show up before these all dry up for another year or two

And here I thought that when Riley moved 60 miles away from me, that I might have a chance at some tools nearby.![]()

Thanks it took a while to get the seller to let it go. Did the spud go cheap?Sweet find on the DRH, those are seldom seen. The spud ratchet, really surprised me when last seen at auction.
Are spud ratchets a premium on Eprey? Or just that one with the special piece?

I agree. No, they usually go cheap to fair priced because there isn’t as much demand. People who need them need them. That was a rare piece.
Nice pair. The 5469 is a hard to find piece. Post some more up when you find them.I have a few more scattered around but here are two I use often, Plomb 5469 and 5467.

Roy, that pliers board is looking great!Another check mark for pliers board. A 258 gas burner pliers. Only a 5 more to go!I agree.
Don, is it really possible to NOT need another 1/4" set? The 11/32 can be an addition to your war finish set!Even though I absolutely didn’t need another 1/4” drive Plomb set, I was unable to pass this partial set up when I saw it on eBay. Apparently Wendell Plunkett bought it on 10/27/44 for $6.50 to do radio work. The 11/32” socket is marked war finish.
