You guys with the collections and small shop spaces are making me feel bad. I'm going through a huge amount of purging and downsizing, as I feel smothered by the stuff I have. But, I know I have much, much smaller quantity than your collections.
However, I have an 11x10 finished basement shop, another 10x10 finished room in the basement, a corridor in the basement with shelves that I keep hardware and fasteners on, an 18 x 36 fully finished and heated/conditioned shop, an 18 x 14' finished storage area, and a 36 x 30' finished garage. In those spaces, I have three 55" x 30" toolboxes, four 26 to 42" toolboxes, 50 feet of workbench space with 7 mounted vises, and about 30 feet of commercial, rivet lock warehouse shelving. The workbenches mostly have finished drawer space under them.
My capacity to deal with "stuff" is just too low, I guess. I have the space I could collect a lot more, if I had the capacity to process and care for it.
I think my focus is more on having the space and tooling to do work, and less focus on collecting objects, except as needed to support the work I want to do. I've never been a good collector, although I've accumulated a lot of junk at times.
