Interesting. I have never seen any of those before. We do have a fairly decent sized town called Albert Lea not too far from here in MN. It would be about an hour from Owatonna and Mankato both hubs for MN tool producers. I also think that the tool manufacturer Lesota was based out of Albert Lea. Coincidence?

I spent some time going through my 1/4” Plomb sets yesterday and found that I still needed some extensions. I gathered the War Finish pieces for a photo while I had them out.

Did someone here buy the set of Plomb pebble combination wrenches that were listed on Portland, OR Craigslist? Every size from 5/16 to 1-1/4 and looked to be in good shape. Priced at $200.00.

‘‘Twas not me who bought those pebbles. Maybe someone else local did?

Update on my tool boards, I finished fixing the finish on them to make them much closer to the original finish. I am much more satisfied with them . I finished my hammer board for the moment with the hammers I have, same with my pliers as well. I also laid out and built my dual mark doe board. 1 wrench down and 25

So far the lone doe is also a pwa marked contract wrench. Rileysan has been trying to get me to create a board specifically for dual marked , pwa contract marked wrenches. I told him I am a glutton for punishment but not that brave [emoji23] he knows I struggle with ocd[emoji23]

A few PWA tools from my Navy NAF box. Sorry, but they aren’t going anywhere.

Very nice! I have that spark plug socket but nothing else. I was referring to the dual marked does- if anyone has any spares, let me know. I don’t care if they are pwa marked or not, if they are dual marked doe’s, I am all ears[emoji23]

No double marked DBE board? I have a spare 3/8” x 7/16” one of those.

-Don

I don’t have many of those and I need to leave my last bit of wall space for some craftsman boards I want to create[emoji23] I need to get my garage a bit more organized so I can take some pictures of all my tool boards so you can see how much real estate they are occupying

Check out what the postman brought today! One piece closer to the 1/4” master set. I love the amber on these old plomb handles. Looks like there should be a Jurassic era mosquito trapped in there.

That’s cool and it’s not even disintegrating. Those are hard to find. Good pick up. I’m still searching for my two unicorns. The postman brought me these to fill out a regular 1/4” drive set.

One of those recently sold on eBay for $125. Was that the one? I have the Proto model.

With the aforementioned trade with Mr X and the addition of the WF 108 line wrench to my set, here is a family photo. I'm now only missing the two book ends to complete this grouping (104 3/4" and 116 1 3/4").
EDIT: Note, that 104 and 116 are from the remaining "known" pieces included in the old Vannatta WF list. Don reminded me that there have been some additional pieces identified since then, therefore I may indeed be missing a couple more including 105, 106, 109, & 110. More to look for!!

Hey,
Maybe this will help. Here is the full list of WF flares. As you can see my WF flares are lacking. Screenshot_20201224-140203.jpeg

Thanks to OOB for the another 2 Plomb Power Drive 1/2" Swivel Sockets. Been a bit of lull for additions to the wall but this helped a lot. Now only 1 left to finish out the set! If anyone has the 7/16" let me know.IMG_20201224_163503705.jpgScreenshot_20201224-163627.jpeg

My dad's friend brought this wrench over in a toolbox he bought at an estate sale and gave to me. I think I have it dated back to WWII but I was wondering if the date can be narrowed down to the year or a smaller range, and I'm also more concerned with whether or not it's coated with cadmium plating or not?

So what do you guys think the story is with this Paschall hammer, made for Ranger AT also having the Plomb stamp into it... Maybe made after the Paschall purchase but before the lawsuit was officially brough?

Maybe there was no need to use only the Paschall name since the hammer wasn’t intended for retail sale. The point of avoiding marking the hammers Plomb was to eliminate direct competition with Plumb.

I wonder, what the time frame between the Paschall purchase and the lawsuit was. I was thinking Paschall was bought out in the late 20s? Hey Outlaw! I need to make a family pic of all my Pashcalls I think!

The first time Plumb sued Plomb was March, 1947. Plumb did not sue Plomb in the 1920s, Plumb ruined Plomb's TM attempt, submitted in 1925, granted in 1927, and almost immediately rescinded. Plomb also bought Paschall in 1925. The information on the Van Atta site and AA is not accurate. For a refresher, go to post #31 and read through post #36 on page 2 of my Lawuit Thread, linked here.

First of all, for the reasons I elaborate on in the research I just sent you a link to, I think the whole Paschall hammer thing is a red herring and a myth with respect to Plumb, the TM dispute, and the later suits. When Plomb bought Paschall in 1925, to increase their manufacturing capacity, Paschall wasn't even making hammers, and that was 2 full years before the USPTO would grant and then almost immediately pull back their TM. The first Paschall hammers Plomb sold were bumping hammers, which Plomb was already making. They didn't offer Paschall ball-pein hammers until 1932. That doesn't sound like a Plumb appeasement strategy to me. It sounds like a way of branding the tools being made at a separate facility separately from tools branded Plomb. Plumb's later suit makes it clear that their issue was never about any specific tools, it was about Plomb using their company name as a brand to sell tools in general. To make matters worse, the TM had a plumb-bob in it! When Plomb stylized their name so that the O looked like a plumb-bob, they were just begging for trouble. Ten years later, they got it.

As for your hammer, I'll have to look at it closer in the morning. Maybe it's because I'm on my phone, but I don't see a Paschall marking.
