A long time ago and possibly not even on GJ, I read a post/thread/article about the Plomb arrows/plumb bobs and their varied directions. I cannot find the reference but if anyone can give me a vector that would be great.
As I recall, no one can say with certainty why there are variations on the standard 2-down design. The WF series seems to have the most often seen variation of down-up, but the other day I found a WF-33 with an up-down mark.
I can't recall if the piece I read claimed the up-down was more rare than the down-up but I believe it is the first I've seen. I don't think I've ever seen anything but the standard 2-down on non-WF pieces.

School's in session!

No. I have that page book marked because of good info but they only mention the plumb bobs in passing.

JjKk40--If you follow the link provided by Outlaw above, in the header for Section 5 you will see a close up of a WF-82 with two downward pointing bobs.

I like that little combo.
I was unable to pass on this ratchet and box on eBay. For $12.52 plus $12.00 shipping it was mine. The ratchets alone regularly go for over $30.00. I added a few recent acquisitions to it.

Nice set, Don, even if incomplete. I saw that but figured I needed another 1/4" drive set like another hole in my head.

Oldtuleguy, that is an amazing find there. Love the box.

I am sure you have some interesting tidbit to trade smoke!

Ragtop if you have a pic I would not mind seeing another one. I thought it was an interesting set as I have not encountered many of these in any brand from that time period.

Nice finds all. Still catching up yet with all the post missed the fact that the app was being discontinued.

I was happy to find those kits! and they turned out to be Transitional kits! I like the Odd rarer items! I have the Plomb blue prints also in a cabinet and some magazine adds.

There’s a lot of cool stuff in those pictures! The repair kits are amazing! What is the colorful thing in the box in the lower left?

That's a good catch, Dan. This is Page 6 from Catalog 16-B, which was dated to 1938 in the file name. I don't recall where I got it. There is no publishing date in the actual text. It looks like a first time introduction, but I suppose I can see them running that again if they did indeed introduce them later in 1936 than when Catalog 15-A was published, or in 1937. The "B" in 16-B hints at a 16-A, which could've been late 1936 or 1937. (If you're wondering why I said 1939 last night, I don't have this 1938 catalog on my home computer. I really need to consolidate, but I've been waiting for TA 2.0. :))

I realize I'm referencing posts from 75 pages ago but here's 2 early reversible's with removable drive pieces I recently found...the 1/4" drive was from an estate sale, it was in a standard 1/4" plomb socket box with sliding T and a couple of sockets in a ziploc with a $10.00 price tag. The ratcheting action is perfect. The 1938 3/8 drive was from a recent sale where I also was just buying the box with all it's contents.

I like those early reversing ratchets with the detents.
Since I had added a few recently, I gathered my pebbles together for some pictures and passed along a few duplicates to my neighbor. The pictures help me keep track of which ones are still missing.

I do not remember if I posted this before - sorry if I did (bought last year)
I am not sure what the sellers father used 1 5/16 for, but I guess he had two (I had to buy everything as a part of a bigger deal)

If anybody is really missing this size, I am open to the idea of letting one of them go (ideally exchanged for 3/4" Pebble handle breaker bar, other PLVMB, Vintage Blackhawk , etcOct18_3.JPG
