I got this little batch of 1/4“ drive plomb in the mail today. Just so happens to include the 4708L and the 4714L I needed for my giant midget set. Once I find me a 4704 trico wiper socket I’ll have them all!

I took a close look at those to see if either of the missing sockets for my set were included but no dice. I’m glad that some of your unicorns turned up. Still looking for the 4742 and 4746.

I’m trying for everything on this page. I’m definitely down to snipe hunting though. The remaining items are super scarce. I need to track down a box too. I may go with the 3/8” drive box since I’ve never laid eyes on a 4796.

Those 1/4 drv super sets are a great idea!! just need a Wood handled 1/4 driver to go with them! and maybe a smaller Paschall hammer head welded onto a 3/8 rat or breaker handle. I have the parts to make a little Paschall hammer like that but havent gotten to it just yet.

A Plomb wrench from the U.K. - In Whitworth!

I have a few more of these around, formerly owned by my Grandfather.

This one is a little rough, so I wonder if it was war production. Most of the wartime American tools in my family are in SAE sizes though, acquired to maintain American trucks!E289716F-214E-4D3A-B028-3F97FCB5EE45.jpeg

Another rusty clean up from today. Proto LA 8"
It's great that a lot of people hate cleaning rusty tools - sometimes I get interesting staff on yard sales after crowds go through...

Nice find! You should post that on the proto tools thread as well. It is applicable here but the proto thread doesn't progress like this one does and needs all the love/bumps it can get. Great job cleaning up that 8"

Will evaporust hurt wood or do you use some other rust removal method on something like this? I’ve got a few wood handle screwdrivers I need to clean up

In my experience it denuded the wood, pulling the stain out. So I always prop or suspend tools with wooden handles to keep the steel parts in but the wood parts out of the Evaporust or Metal Rescue solution.

Probably a good suggestion. It will be a challenge with this screwdriver with rust on both sides of the handle, but I’ll give it a try.

A few more Plomb arrivals yesterday. Two 8 point 1/4” drive sockets to help fill out partial sets and a 1937 3/8” drive 3/8” socket that came with a partial Walden set.

I sent that extra 8182 DBE wrench I found a few weeks ago to Catfishdan and he was kind enough to send me this empty 4795 box in return. I put my homeless 1/4-inch drive orphans in it. I have moved a few found complete or near-complete sets along to other collectors over the years, so it will be fun and a challenge to try to fill this one up from the wild. I plan to do a "barn find look" refinish special on the exterior and maybe the interior compartments while leaving the inside lid pretty much alone.

That will be a good candidate for a Lugz refinish.
These arrived in the mail today to help fill out the sets I posted upthread.

Picked up a few 1/4” sockets at the flea today. One of the regulars saved them for me. Also, a shot of my 1/4” rarities box.

This is the second Plomb 1/4” drive box like this that I’ve run across. It needs some straightening. rust removal and repainting. The first three pictures are of it as received in the mail yesterday. The other pictures are of the set I found in 2018.

Picked this up over the weekend, 4" jaws, 7.5" arm puller. Round 'O' no date codes, has the arrowheads. I've not seen a Plomb puller like this. Thinking it's very early, I'm not even finding a puller like this in the 1923 or 1925 catalogs.
