Senior X is right, it's an aircraft tool, and I think there is at least one in this thread. But finding uncataloged items is one of the true pleasures of this hobby.
Yes, I’m in the Bay Area. Thanks! The 86A I’m looking for is 86A 5/8 with a 3/4” cut.Man you are a hard dude to shop for. I struck out on everything except the 86a! I assume this is going to the house, not the cabin?

There's a Ranger A.T. tool like that, I think AT-160
4C as Mr X said, I think the Ranger AT-160 may be a match for the tool you show in that ad. On the Plomb Ranger list, AT-160 is described as "Tee Handle Tool With Piloted Slot, 4 1/2"". I didn't find one shown anywhere on GJ, but seems like I remember seeing one elsewhere online a few years ago. I wish I had taken a screen shot of it, because I don't remember if it was configured as a fixed tee handle or if it was a removable cross bar.unicorn? or just a drawing they made up for the ad?
That is a nice hatchet but it isn’t plomb… it’s plumb
I don’t know much about plumb so I can’t tell you if it is valuable or not? If you want to sell it check eBay sold auctions? It still is a nice piece to remember him by! Four cycle is correct, it is a wood shingle/siding hammer. I don’t think many of those survived that wellLearn something new everyday.
I stop by this thread on occasion and look around. But by no means have an education in Plumb or Plomb...so what should I do with it???
One day...I'll find a 9998 too! It just might take the next 10years :-DTook advantage of the thaw up here in weather and got out the pressure washer/degreaser and cleaned my tool mobile and 9998 top chest! Now I gotta finish straightening them and get ‘em shined up and filled with my collection
Even in your neck of the woods, I believe them to be somewhat uncommon. Around here in the Pacific Northwest they are uncommon. This one came down from Seattle. Keep an eye out and be ready to jump if one comes up!One day...I'll find a 9998 too! It just might take the next 10years :-D
Gee, the one flea I missed last trip to Sacramento.I found mine at Denios.

I took pictures of the top tray tools and the tools from the box so I could update the list.
The sockets are coming along well.

Put everything back in the box.
I continued to work on the Plomb based GMTK. The 19/32 socket from Roy got cleaned up as did the shorty offset DBE from SSDave.I took pictures of the top tray tools and the tools from the box so I could update the list.

The three Paschall hammers together.

Here is a list of the contents.Nice set Don! Includes the difficult to find pin handle! The GMTKs call for 1/4” drive midget sets. The sockets look like this except that I replaced any that were marked “War Finish” with others since it is thought that those were meant for civilian consumers. I had to add a 3/8” 8 point socket that Plomb never offered so I went with a Walden.
-Don
Here is the set that is in the GMTK with the Walden socket added.

Depending on your geographical location, yes. In my neck of the woods, not particularly… I will keep an eye out for you! Some folks report the 1210 pebble to be really hard to find but I find about 1 a year. Of course you can eBay those wrenches but the smaller sizes can be somewhat spendy !Are those smaller 1210, 1212, 1214 hard to find?
Normally the wartime tools will be either plain steel, cadmium plated or black oxide. I tend to stay away from chrome plated tools unless they are marked 1941 or earlier.Thank you Don for such a detailed list I really appreciate it! I have that box and some of those tools so I wanted to put one together!!!! All of that stuff would have been raw steel, right? No cadmium?

They aren’t full enough.Getting closer to having my top chest finished. I can move all the drawers with one hand and none of them require extra effort!

They don’t have anything in them… when I got this the slides/tracks/drawer faces where bent and twisted from prior abuse and folks not fixing them when the damage was small. I shall be filling this up with my collection and it will certainly be full enough thenThey aren’t full enough.

I have a similar one from 1936. The plug is captive on mine which accounts for it not being lost, like they often are.I've been on the hunt for Plomb/Plvmb ratchets for a while and have managed to pull a handful of 5449s but thus far have struck out in the 3/8 and 1/4 arenas.
Sunday, while out of town (details in the 2022 Garage Sale thread) I stumbled across a Plomb LA 5251 with a 4B date stamp, a model that I was only peripherally aware of existing. It's an interesting design and amazingly functional for a 98-year-old tool!
The same pull snagged a 5254 adapter and my first 8 point 1/2 drive socket, a 5422.
At any rate, ratchet pictures:
Best regards,
John

There had to be a way for you to get some Barcalo items in there! Looking good. For those of you following my Plomb based GMTK project, I made a few more additions today. I borrowed some Plomb DBE wrenches from my Navy box which I will have to replace.
Thanks. There weren’t very many GMTK suppliers that made the shorty 5/8” x 3/4” DBE wrenches and I had a Barcalo one on hand. I added Arcturus because I was recently reminded that they were in the “wynmkr set”, which was a rare probably mostly original GMTK found some years back. This one will be a placeholder until I find a Plomb 3027.There had to be a way for you to get some Barcalo items in there! Looking good.
