Once again tapping into the collective knowledge here.
I recently installed a water softener in my house. It did already have one so this is a new install vs a replacement. The water softener has a valve body similar to/same as this one
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B074DQ96JM/?tag=atomicindus08-20
My question is how do I create a leak free joint between install adapters
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B074DPX93C/?tag=atomicindus08-20
and my pex lines?
This is the pex to npt fitting I'm using

I bought 3/4" pex to 1" NPT female adapters. I used Teflon tape on the threads but not the faces of the plastic parts. Do I need to use pipe dope instead?
I also think I have a leak where the control valve body attaches to the fiber tank. So far this install has been frustrating
Suggestions are welcome. BTW, the softener is a cabinet style similar to this
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00BT9UCMM/?tag=atomicindus08-20 but mine is the 40,000 grain version.
