I got a couple of new ones.

A small utilitech square led aluminum flashlight deal that's about 50+ lumens from lowe's for 3 bucks.

Defiant pen lights that are around 20(?) 2 for 5 at hodot.

I don't really care about ratings just "enough light" and mobile for flashlights. A lot of the new led ****-lights are pretty good both in light output and fit & finish. The button on that utilitech is friggin awesome (doesn't "slide" around) compared to some of the other cheap stuff I've bought in the past.

I ordered a streamlight stylus pro for work. It has a single led and runs off of 2 aaa batteries. Not much bigger than a sharpie marker.
I love it. Batteries last and last. it is super bright- blows my old minimag out of the water,

idk who the oem is but this little work light is awesome where you need a flood of light rather than a beam of a flashlight. the only problem is accidentally looking into the wall of led's lol.

The light you have is a Nebo Larry 8 led pocket flashlight.

EZ-RED makes a 6 led pocket flashlight and Craftsman makes a 6 led pocket flashlight. I have the Craftsman 6 led pocket flashlight and it is a great flood light.

The Nebo Larry has a clear plastic protective cover over the leds, rotating clip, magnet, and 2 additional leds over the competition.

I picked up this light at my local welding supply for $12 and have been thrilled with it. The pocket clip on the back puts the light where I want it. Very bright, very positionable, and the magnet does a great job. Best part of any really nice light- it takes normal batteries.

And that, my fine fellows, is my 1,000th post here on Garage Journal. Is there cake?

I got one for Christmas and love it! I've already used it a bunch of times. The magnetic clip is super handy and it's really bright. I had to do some work on my HVAC last week and was able to stick this thing inside the unit to see what the heck I was doing in a dark basement - handsfree. The clip rotates too so you can angle the light to where you need it.

I've had a Larry Light for about 10 months. I keep it attached to the top of my tool cart for easy access. I'm seriously thinking of getting one for each vehicle I own. It's a danged handy light.

I bought a few of the Larry Lights a little over a year ago. I bought them locally at a local lumber yard. I gave them away to friends and family and kept one for me. They were all amazed how bright they are. I use mine around the house and garage. They are GREAT little lights. I think at 10.00 they are a good deal.

Did I mention how bright they are? LOL

This is all I use at work all day and most times at home. I spend more time with it in my mouth than my hands so I cut an old spark plug boot in half, reamed it out a little, and stuck it over the end to give my teeth more purchase.
Ok guys, no bad jokes about it being in my mouth, lol.
Oh, and to the op, I have one of those and ended up not using it much. The stream light is a much better buy.

I've seen many that are similar, but this Larry is the one to get.

This is money really well spent. I think I paid $12 at my local tool shop. I've had it for about an year now. Too bad I lost mine the other day at work. It's now sitting behind a customer's door panel, when I was using it to RE&RE a door acuator assembly.

It's an awesome light, especially for the money. It's gives off an amazing amount of flood light, which is what you need when working on a vehicle.

The adjustable clip is such a great idea. When I was using it on the door, I simply clipped it onto the metal skin and I simply adjusted the position of the light to where I needed it. Using a standard pen light in this situation doesn't work very well at all. When working in a cramped area, this light really does a good job for most applications.

I gotta go by my replacement now. Since it's cheap I'll get a few. One back up for work, one for the home, one for the car kit

Ditto to this ^^, the Larry Lights are great, I got mine at my local Ace for 4.99 with a coupon, if you pick the right seller on Amazon they are $9 and change. A useful little light and cheap enough to replace when you lose or break them. Plus Larry Light is fun to say, I dunno why.

This is what I use also. I use rechargeable batteries in it. Lasts quite a few hours per charge. Not sure how long the light will last, but I am happy with it for home garage use.

Does anyone have the Larry2 12 led work light and how does it compare to the 8 led Larry? Is it too big, is it too bright? Thanks!!

We have been selling these where I work ever since Nebo introduced them. They sell very well for us, and I use one at work and another at home. We sell them for $8.75.
They come in several colors, and then there is the "Lucy" light, which is the same thing in pink.
I too am curious about the Larry 2, that has another row of LED's and a LASER pointer. My Nebo rep has been urging me to try them but so far I have resisted.
Larry is great, but the Nebo Workbrite is sweet as well. Now that I have that, I use the Workbrite much more than the Larry.

My only issue with the Larry is that after a while I guess the contacts need to be bent as it needs a little slap now and then to maintain maximum brightness.

I carry two small LED flashlights. One of them is usally a 2AAA penlight, like the Streamlight Protac 2AAA, Streamlight Stylus Pro, or Pelican 1920. I carry a 1AAA light as a backup.

The Protac 2AAA has both bright and dim levels so you can avoid blinding yourself when doing up close work.

The Mini Maglite 2AAA is plenty bright for a penlight, but twisting the head to control it usually requires two hands. A pushbutton operated light like the Streamlights is easier to use.

When I have a specific task, I use an Energizer Romeo Molle light. It works great because it has strong magnets recessed in the clip. The clip is free to rotate so the light can be oriented in several positions. I've stuck the Romeo light to the chassis when working underneath my truck. It is powered by a single AA battery.

I use the crappiest **** imaginable. So my main flashlight is (now) a utilitech from lowe's for (3 bucks) and a defiant pen light from hodot (5 bucks for two). Oddly, these are excellent flashlights but I've gone through a ton of "not excellent" flashlights and these were probably seasonal.

I've (finally) started checking the lumen count on packages before buying my typical chinese ****. The led stuff is getting brighter and brighter and cheaper and cheaper! I would check out home depot's seasonal clearance section for some decent flashlights for not a lot of money. They had a aa spotlight for something like 12 bucks. I was eyeballing that for a while (will buy it if they still have it). I think it was well over 100 lumens. Great for ******* off your idiot neighbors.

Had my first Larry Light for about a year. I keep it in my pocket at work. I bought two others to put in my Turnouts and brushgear for firefighting. I gave two to my future son in laws for stocking stuffers. Just a great little light and super bright for the size.

Got my Larry from Amazon, and I like it, makes a good companion to the HF $3 puck leds, but I have little doubt that something much better is coming down the pike, so I have one only.

Stick with the Nebo or EZred, cheaper ones may look the same and be junk.

Flaky operation may be corrosion on the contacts, clean with the pink eraser on the end of a pencil.

I have the Craftsman Pocket LED Light and it is a great flood light. It's lower price than the Larry but it is not junk.

http://www.sears.com/craftsman-led-pocket-light/p-03473960000P

Sears does not advertise the Craftsman Pocket LED Light in their Craftsman Club mailers and emails so many do not know about it.

The Craftsman Pocket LED Light has only 6 leds and the leds are not covered. Is the Larry brighter?

YES! get a few of those larry lights, i found them while searching online for a light to use at work because i get tired of popping the streamlight in my mouth and drooling all over by the time im done working on something thats in a tight dark area.

and finally they are being carried locally here now for 7.99 at hyvee gas stations and grocery stores, so i can get extras without needing to pay shipping now.

and they are such good little worklights, the second i showed some of my coworkers the light they all wanted them as well. very handy and they do put out quite a bit of useable light. the swiveling magnetic clip is a very nice touch too.

The MSRP on the Larry is $9.99. Any of these places that charge $12 for them are just greedy. Like I said, we sell them for $8.75.

We also sell the Nebo Redline SE light, I have one and my son has one for Boy Scout campouts. The other scouts all want one.
https://www.nebotools.com/prod_details.php?id=164&cid=16

Their Highbeam 12v socket lights have sold well for us as well.
https://www.nebotools.com/prod_details.php?id=91&cid=16

ever opened a larry up?

mine broke because i used it so much (fixed it btw, the wire came unsoldered from the top, after resoldering it, it took just a few seconds to snap it back together), the way it was built was a little iffy (earlier version i presume, the newer ones have different button assembies on top). the positive wire for the button is soldered to a tab and the wire is run in between the swivel and the top, and the button rubber is cut out to allow it to pass through, kinda jinky. definitely not water tight like the commercial on youtube suggests, it's just a simple circuit board, a wire, a piece of metal and some plastic pieces snapped together.

very simple design and manufacturing process, probably costs them less than 2 dollars to make if mass produced. they could probably sell it for 5 dollars and still make profit.

if you wanna talk about ripoff, buy any 5-8 led light for more than 3 dollars at a gas station counter, and you are looking at getting ripped off majorly because those cost far less than a dollar to make, a thin alunimum tube, a tiny round board, and a screw cap, and a button , done.

unless the flashlight has a super high power LED and multiple functions for brightness, and flashing, then you should never pay more than 20 dollars for a medium end light.

I bought the "larry" brand light and its really nice it really floods the area with light. I paid 9.99 I think. I even bought a 2nd one just in case I loose one and they don't make them anymore.

From? Price? Inquiring minds want to know.

eBay: Link

Normally I'd go with Amazon because I have Prime. However, almost all the Amazon listings are from third parties and hence, not Prime-eligible. So I went to eBay and simply picked the best price.

is the laser just for pointing at stuff or what?

Yes, it's a conventional pointing laser. Out of the box it had a sticker over the laser that diffused the beam somewhat. I considered leaving it in place as it's probably safer that way. But I didn't.

Already used the light to crawl under a kitchen cabinet to unscrew the counter top. Perfect!

Well I was in Ace Hardware and they had a new display of the Larry 2's at the counter for $13.99. I picked up a green one and like it even better than the original. I just wish they would of put the laser on a separate button OR make it come on second instead of first OR just not put a laser on it at all. The first click of the button should not be the laser. I'll live with it though.

This one is brighter than the first one. The original will now be going to my dad. I'll pick up another for my truck when I get a points rewards card again. $5 off brings it down to $8.99. :)

I have the Larry, which I picked up at the register for less than 10 bucks at a local motorcycle shop. It was a buy it and forget it purchase until the power went out a couple weeks ago. Holy ****, this thing will light up a whole room. :shocking:

Time to get one for the car, bike, and truck.

i can confirm that the light in the OP works after going through the wash......

Went through the wash in my coveralls - oops.

pulled it out - dried it out - it lives again .

Very bright for the size and good for seeing down the back of big engines(with small displacements) in small spaces (most european cars)
