Stihl kombi unit with the pole saw attachment is what I have and it’s a really nice unit. Best part is when you’re done with the saw you can take off that attachment and put on another one in less than a minute. I have the trimmer attachment and the sweeper along with the pole saw. I have one extension piece for the saw and it’ll reach 12’ no problem.

I really enjoy our Ryobi battery pole saw. It has 2 length options, and has handled everything I've needed it to. Even if there is a gas one that would cut faster, I'd take this over that due to no smell.

How's the weight balance on this one? I'm looking at it for myself and was curious if it's super heavy on the end like some others. While it could help in some situations, I'd rather not be exhausted after a few minutes.

What I was told when I bought mine was buy the one with the most power and that's what I did. The largest Stihl model, HT133. Works good but will wear you out.

Battery is on the one end, saw head on the other.
Balance is perfect and it comes with a shoulder sling in case you need to distribute a bit of the weight.

The short setting, without the extension is just about the right length for me to cut stuff on the ground without bending over to do it.
This is a huge plus for me both for ergonomics and keeping the saw and wood at a distance from me.
My hand saws and the stihl gas do not shorten enough for ground cuts to be comfortable.

Well, you definitely didn't talk me out of buying one, lol.

Thanks!

Why does it need to be gas powered? Silky makes some beautiful saws that will cut like butter and they are much easier to wield than a gas powered thingy.

Thanks for the responses. I am considering the Ryobi, but for now, I am going to try my dad's manual pole saw and see how that does. I cut one branch about 1.5 inch diameter and was surprised how fast it cut through.

I've got the Ryobi and it *****. It's just too toy-ish.

If you have a medium to heavy task, I'd go gas.

I got a Troy Bilt trimmer off the curb with the interchangeable attachments. It had a trimmer and blower, but the next week I got a pole saw attachment at a garage sale for $10. I love the thing. I also got a 4 cycle trimmer that would work for free.50, but operating them at weird angles can cause oil starvation, so 2 cycle it is

I just bought the Ryobi pole saw a couple weeks ago. It does what I need it to do, trimming oak tree branches without the noise of a gas saw. Its a little wobbly at 9ft long but I just rest it on the branch and let it cut. The chain gets a little loose after a while but otherwise for occasional use it's fine. I bought their blower too which also does a good job.

I bought a Stihl Kombi, it works well for me. I did the 94R powerhead, and I have the pole saw, the extension, string trimmer, brushcutter, and bed redefiner, and likely to buy a hedge trimmer attachment and possibly the tiller attachment soon as well.

I tried my neighbors' Kombi-cut and went back to manual. It's just as fast and easier to deal with.

Who else makes a pole saw and sweeper?

I know these are different attachments.

I could use both of these tools, and having options for other attachments would be worth it for me if the power unit was of good enough quality to last a long time.

This is what I have as well. Works great, but it's not light.....

I should have mentioned that there is a Renegade saw blade available for string trimmers. If your trimmer has enough power it could be what you are looking for. Plenty of Utube videos on it. Look up "best brush cutter blade".

I had one of the ExpandIt versions that attached to the Ryobi gas trimmer instead of the weedwacker heads. The gears were very weak and it self destructed. Parts were no longer available so into the trash it went.

I needed a pole saw and after researching went with the Oregon 40V model. (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00IN2FD0O/?tag=atomicindus08-20) It worked well and the battery lasted for about 2 hours of branch trimming. We needed a blower and since I had the 40V battery, I got the Oregon blower. (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00V6SQO96/?tag=atomicindus08-20) It too is heavy, but really blows :)

I could have found cheaper alternatives, but I'm happy with the Oregon stuff.

I have the Stihl Kombi 130r powerhead, pole saw, weedeater, brush saw, bed redefiner, and a couple carbon fiber extensions. It's an expensive system, but it's been very reliable and has plenty of power with the 130r engine.
