As one trying to make a decision on whole house vs portable generator....I looked at this with interest.

Besides the whole, "if it's too good to be true" part to this deal.....when reading the feedback it seems that if you have a problem...the vendor is very slow to respond.

Also..checking Amazon...(where I never buy anything)...the same generator is listed at $815. Yes, that's more than the eBay listing, but way off the supposed MSRP of $1999 shown in the eBay listing.

I also very highly doubt thst they actualy sold them for $1,999.99. In all reality its a **** chinese built machine with poor quality parts that may not be available in a few years.

I don't own one of these or sell them, so no dog in this fight...

People at all income levels appreciate having electricity. What varies are things like disposable income, requirements, priorities, fuel availability, physical ability, mechanical and electrical skill.

If you need something that will start and run your whole house without intervention or management, that's going to be a high priced option.

If you can be your own mechanic/electrician and can do some manual setup and load management, you could take a risk on buying a mil-surplus unit and fixing it up, call that a mid-priced option.

The cheap, air-cooled generator has its place. Yes, it might very well be a **** chinese built machine with poor quality parts that may not be available in a few years, but at a certain price point even that can be attractive.

Oversized generators have an oversized thirst ! If you are never going to need that much power, buy a smaller generator.

A typical house with NO 240v appliance/loads can usually get by on about 3000W, less if you manage it carefully.

A 5000W 240V generator will run your house and probably ONE 240V load (NOT a whole house A/C).

Just another really cheap China made generator.........with questionable parts and service.

Buy three so you’ll know you will a little power when you really need it.

Good thinking on the fuel burn rate.

That generator will need about 100,000btu per hour at only half load. You will need 3 40lb tanks chained together or 2 100lb tanks just to run it at 60* and 1/2 load. Kind of takes away the portable factor and "deal"
