Beautiful work. That's the type of garage I wanted to build. I ended up with my steel 30'x36' because it was significantly less expensive both in terms of material and time.

I absolutely love the look of post and beam. Fantastic work with you and your father doing all this.

Keep posting pics!

Thanks for all the responses guys, work is getting done but it's not as elaborate as when we were raising bents. The plywood for the roof is all up now. Gotta wait for the inspector to come by then we can start shingling.

We were able to work friday and saturday. Sunday we planned to start work on the loft floor, but it snowed and rained all day. I'm heading back to boston in about an hour, will come back down once we get the go-ahead to shingle. Most exciting thing to come up is once the roof is done were getting a backhoe back out here to dig for the slab and make the trench deeper. The old slab will finally come up when its here too.

No idea on the walls yet, although its looking more and more like its going to get a tarp treatment for a while until we can afford to do it right. Rigid foam insulation is pretty expensive, but its either that or SIPs (structural insulated panels).

Some pics as of 5 minutes ago:

We're starting to keep stuff in it already:

Sorry for the lack of updates, but with the weather not much has been getting done. The roof (minus the ridge vent) is finally complete though.

Few weeks ago:

I really hate asphalt, but its all we could afford. The lines in the architectural shingles help to break it up a bit visually, so its not too too bad. Also the roof and PV panels should go about the same time, so replacement would be all at once.

My view all christmas break:

We have to measure the clearance, but if a backhoe can fit under it we will start putting up the 2nd floor. If not, all work is pretty much halted till the spring (or another nice warm week) when we dig for the slab.
Some time will be spent looking for antique 12 over 8 windows and lighting.
