Here's my 1/4" socket set purchased in the late 1970's from my wife's uncle's hardware store in Polo, Illinois.

I posted this up in the wrong place a few days ago.

A couple of my FIL tools.

I would not mind picking up a number of complimentary sets for his grand kids and myself.

Retired plumber.

Thank you!

pretty cherry-looking 1/4" set there, bobpal!

potato: in one of those photo images it looks like they've got a bucket full of Duro-Indestro 2875A 1/4" ratchets for $7.99 a pop?

Let me know. I contacted them via phone about a year ago and they were pretty blunt about online or phone sales - they're strictly cash and carry out the door.

I see about a half a dozen items in those photos I'd like to get.

Two items I know they have are the 2775A 3/8" drive RHFT ratchet, and an 8-piece Duro-Indestro metric short 45° offset double-end box wrench set 6mm- 20mm. (This set: http://www.ebay.com/itm/8pc-metric-...:g:~l0AAOSw44BYRPAs&item=142201551345&vxp=mtr ) They've been going for anywhere from $25-$50 on Ebay over the last year. Meridian is selling the set (as I recall) for $30.

IF it is US-made Thorsen, I want a set of the 3/8" drive metric shallow sockets. It would be nice to get photos of all of the items they have available in both Thorsen and Duro-Indestro (or Indestro.)

Noted: Hopefully I get the opportunity to visit the store and do some shopping!
Regards,
John

I need to dig through my old toolbox of random stuff, I know I've seen some thorsen sockets and maybe a wrench or two.

As for Meridian Tool... Google says it's 4hrs away... Probably closer to 3.5hrs tops... I mean, who DOESN'T do 90+ going through Oklahoma? There's nothing there!

Be nice. I live within 30 minutes of Meridian Tools.

...and for the other junkies... I've bought SK and Bonney stuff there as well. You'll find a lot of treasures in those bins but you'll find a lot of junk. It's sorted by drive and size but not by manufacturer. You could find a bunch of Thorsen 3/8 drive 1/2" and NO Thorsen in 7/16" or 9/16".

Here's my one and only Thorsen V metric wrench.

In a related matter, I have now found the V-groove pattern wrenches in eight different brands: Thorsen, Action, Powr-Kraft, Channellock, Dayton, KAL, Blue Grass and Snap-On. I've got at least one of each brand -- or at least I will when the Blue Grass I just bought on fleaPay arrives. I'll post a family portrait when that happens.

Meanwhile, I'd sure like to hear about any other brands the VeeGees wore. The only other possibility I can think of is Giller, and I've never seen one, nor has Alloy Artifacts

^ I've looked at virtually every Giller post on Ebay for over a year and I've yet to see one. Doesn't necessarily mean they don't exist, but it would come as a surprise.

Thanks to d42Jeep, my vast collection of DOE VeeGees is complete! (as far as I know...) Now I have the full range from 1/4" to 1" by sixteenths + 1 1/8" , plus the oddball 19/32.

Now that I've crowed about it, someone is bound to come up with a 1 1/16 x 1 1/4 or something similarly insane.

We have a boat load of stuff in the warehouse too :) If you message us on FB that would be the best way to communicate about shipping an order! Visit http://www.meridiantool.com to get to the Facebook page. I'm the owners son and can do some shipments if they make sense financially. We can skype, FaceTime, FB Live, or take videos of the items in stock if needed.

Ladies and Gentlemen, the VeeGees!

I have now completed my set of the Thorsen V-Grooves and all its kin.

Posing for a family portrait are Papa Thorsen, Mama Blue Grass, little Action, the infant KAL, Uncle Powr-Kraft, brother Dayton, British sister Channel lock, and of course weird cousin Snappy.

There could be a long-lost batty aunt or two, but none heard from so far.
Maybe some day someone will drop me a postcard (electronically) and the family reunion will expand. Ya never know!

I picked up this little set in the early 90's, it's really been the workhorse of my toolset for a couple decades now. If anyone is worried about the missing pieces, I *do* have the 9/16" and sparkplug socket, they're just...uhhh..."working" somewhere else at this point. :)

I thought I had completed my set of VeeGees, and then Twertsy had to chime in. You, Sir, are an enabler!!

As I unwrapped it, I heard Crocodile Dundee saying, "Now, that's a wrench!"

I had my V-groove Thorsens in all eight brands, DOE's 1/4" to 1 1/8" and figured that was good enough, but when Twertsy offered this 1 3/8x1 1/2, I couldn't resist.

Hey, that little one looks familiar. Here are the ones I found today at the Oakland Museum white elephant sale. Of course, the metric one was a 13mm.

I found a terrible looking shorty offset DBE 1/2" X 9/16" at an estate sale yesterday. After a little cleaning with fine steel wool and a bit of WD40 I was really surprised by the result. No pitting and even the parkerized finish remained.

I found a few 1/2" drive Thorsen items at an estate sale yesterday. A#16 flex handle, 1-1/4" socket, 1-1/16" socket and a 5/8" socket.

I don't really have much to show, but here they are.
Dayton wrenches. Sold by Grainger. I have an open end set, but I'm missing one wrench.
