yes I was shocked on how much they favor each other, if Macy would loose some weight you would have a hard time telling them apart! macy was just a kitten when we found her so she hasn't know anything but indoor life! Motel 6 was about 1-2 years old when she came up to my daughter while we were on vacation. She made herself at home in our motel room so we took her home with us... she still skittish but seems to adapted to indoor life well
:) That's Funny....."Made herself At home".

Bub: my CLEO doesn't play well with others either and she doesn't even take any lip from my daughter's 70 pound dog when he's making a full on charge at her. TORTA-TUDE at its finest that is for certain. our Cleo only likes one brand of wet cat food (the spendy $1.40 per can stuff) and she finally tried a second flavor of the same brand. maybe cause she was only on dry food for months at the shelter cause nobody wanted a 4+ year old cat with Torta-tude.

BF: yep all of our cats in the past and Cleo usually drink out of the faucet or sink (or rusty bird feeder) and rarely out of their bowls

All: here's Cleo's slave this month (besides us of course).

Bub: like I mentioned my bride LOVES tortoise shell calicos so when our last one passed a couple years ago (we've had 4 in the 30+ years we've been married one at a time) we went to the NO KILL SHELTER our daughter found Zeek. yep a lot of cats were a lot friendlier, but Cleo tapped my wife on the shoulder.

then when Cleo came in the room with us she had Torti-tude and didn't warm up to us a bit so we said yep we're up for the challenge and she's been a great cat for us and the neighborhood. not too many small critters hang around our yard with her around or they die.

Neg: yep Zeke is another one of Cleo's slaves, but he tries to throw his weight around and he usually steps back very quick. I rarely play with Cleo out in the yard around bushes without gloves on cause she would always draw blood if I didn't have long sleeves and gloves on.

ALL: one thing Cleo does that not all our cats have done is if I fold up a towel and lay it on the table, ground, window sill she'll lay on it and go to sleep fairly quickly. anybody else's cat do this?

This cat adopted me about five years ago. She showed up in my garage and would hang out with me all day. I told my wife to not name the cat as we already had two, so we called her “white cat.” We bought a heated house for her as the winter turned very cold. One thing lead to another and she came with us when we moved across town. After a close call with a fox (since deceased) she became an inside cat.
She lost an ear to cancer last summer but recovered nicely. She’s still White, and that’s the name on her chip.

Texas has mice the size of rats, and rats the size of Labrador retrievers. A big kitty is just kinda practical.

Can't wait for enough breeding cycles so they stay at that size and become domesticated
It’ll never happen. After seeing pictures of Napoleon (the Li-Liger in my post) my buddy asked his veterinarian wife why if tigers have been held in captivity for thousands of years, they weren’t fully domesticated yet? Her mater of fact answer? “They’re cats. If Taco (their sweet tabby house cat) weighed even 100 lbs, we’d all be dead already.”
Seems about right I’m afraid.

Full disclosure: Napoleon isn’t mine, and I only included the picture here for humor’s sake. I will say that in my short time with him, he was mostly a perfect gentleman. I felt pretty much at ease letting him chew on my fingers and even nip at my neck and ear. He however did not like not being able to freely roam the house and threw a little very vocal temper tantrum when prevented from doing so. That was enough of an eye opener to make my wife and I realize that though we’d offered, we weren’t adequately equipped to baby sit even young big cat. We were relieved that the need to do so never materialized.

Tom lives in the main hay barn with three lady friends, but always meets me at the feed house door for an extra snack and a little rubbing. When the shop door is open, he will come in and loudly tell me that he needs some attention. Tom seems to be a lover not a fighter and usually spends is time watching the ladies do the hunting.

Willie and his two brothers are 12. He's kinda large and in charge. He sets outside an open door and swats at the other cats as they try to get by him. Willie has some Main **** in him. Tuffed ears and toes and a big M on his forehead.

Meriel our 3 year old. We found her under a neighbors porch. She is actually my wife's cat but she has me trained too! She's a polydactyl (multi toed cat)

This is my Father-in-laws cat, when he passed, Petie came home with us. She was the neighborhood cat, kinda feral and pregnant, when my Father-in-law took her in. The tuxedoed kittens got scattered around the neighborhood. They would come back all the time and hang out in the garage.

She is a very good cat. All you have to do is walk in her direction and she starts purring.

Probably A good thing my Cleo don't "play well with others"..................L0L
I'd probably have about 5 cats at a time at least!
Here she is in her "new spot"
Only about a thousand dollar Gerstner if brought new.
I put cardboard on it, and a shirt after the photos, for now so she don't scratch it up.
Didn't have the heart to take it off her.
Also one of her showing off, she knows she's cute!

ALL: great cat pics and stories. Our Cleo purrs so loud you can hear her purring across the room.

one bonus I have is while she doesn't HANG in my garage too much she does take a survey of it every few days and I haven't had anything with a tail other than hers in my garage for years now.

hope you all enjoy 2019 with your furry friends.

Yeah, My Cleo is really more of a House cat than A shop Cat, But she did used to Like to hang out in the Garage with my helper and Me when I lived at the other place.
She loves it here though, as I closed in the front porch for her, so it's in and out all day.

I feel ya on that last part.

I have 3 “feral” cats. 1 is the offspring of one of my other cats. I think she is hypersensitive. I can pet for just a few seconds (and she LOVES it) then she is all claws and teeth!

Then there are her 2 offspring. Lilith and William. Lilith is skittish. William is not as skittish. I’ve touched him once. Then he runs.

I think it’s unfair. I feed them twice a day, make sure their water is fresh, and clean, and provide them with a safe place to live. I wish I could pet them.... I wouldn’t feel so USED! Hahaha

ALL: speaking of fun stuff our cats do. this cat (CLEO) we rescued has worked her way into at least 4 of our neighbor's homes. she goes out about 6am, comes back in for breakfast after a pit stop in a few minutes, grabs breakfast (tuna or chicken), then out for the day until about 5pm for dinner (tuna or chicken and only one brand and one style) plus maybe some dry food and back out till 10pm. during her day we've heard from at least 4 neighbors that she just walks in their home after scratching on their sliding glass or front doors like its her home.

I guess we won't have any issues getting her a sitter if we want to leave for a week or two.

anybody else's cat pretty friendly with the neighbors?

Neighbor about a half mile away used to have an old peekapoo that would do the same. It actually figured out when the snack bar at the club was closing for the day and would show up for hotdogs they were tossing out. She became a regular around the neighborhood. She was old, lovable and loved the attention. She would slowly wander the neighborhood (taking the shortcuts across the course and through yards) but if you called her she would come see you, take some petting and then continue on her way on her hotdog runs. Well, more like meander...

Not too many wandering cats in our area any more. I think with the coyotes moving in people are getting a little more cautious. I see lots of neighborhood apps looking for lost cats that never return. I know what happened, but I think too many people are in denial of the wildlife around them.
My kitty is an in house cat only! Now he will sit out on the screen porch and take in the freezing weather and actually enjoy it. We have to drag him in sometimes. Maine ****....

That's A Shame, I understand we Have coyotes in my area,
But I really don't know my neighborhood or trust anyone for that matter,
so Cleo is confined to the fenced in front porch.
But she loves it out there.

I live outside the local city and have the occasional raccoon come by but I have never seen lawn damage like that.
What is it about your yard that attracts them?
Or do you have a neighbor that hates your green lawn?

ALL: not to HIJACK the CAT THREAD, but pretty sure the hungry raccoons are looking for grubs so i'm working on putting down good grub killers this year along with the regular fertilizers. I like critters, but not when they do this kind of stuff.

BUB: yep a steady diet of TUNA probably isn't the best so we only give her a can or less per day (Cleo is a pretty big cat) and she eats dry food too. she also has a steady diet of small critters like birds, rats, mice, rabbits and whatever she gets from all the neighbors she visits. she doesn't like other critters so has pretty much run off all the stray cats that used to hang around our neighborhood so hoping she can run off the raccoons once I get rid of the grubs.

ALL: we had our power go out for about 15 hours the other day so we decided to start a new puzzle (maybe the first one we've done together since we got married 31+ years ago) and Cleo wanted to watch. SO my bride made her a bed out of maybe 4 blankets and a towel on top of our dining table. yep i'm not a fan of any cat or pet climbing up on counters or tables, but Cleo seems to be getting us to treat her like the QUEEN she thinks she is. my Queen (my bride) was a bit cold, but still smiling.

cheers
