After whining, eating, and laying in the windows, he favorite thing to do is lay under the snowmobiles and race cars pondering the meaning of life.

Meet Hinkydinky a 21YO Manx. He is heading into kidney failure and is deaf. To deal with the kidney failure, we inject 200ml saline 3x a week subQ. Our best fur-face kid ever.

Here’s my first garage cat, Tito. He found us while I was out working in the shop back when it was a rental.

Poor little guy was seriously underweight and malnourished. We took care of him for a few months outside, but when it started getting cold, he became a full time indoor cat.

Since then, he was lonely during the day while we were working. So we now have a second cat, Teddy.

I understood and thank you
She was a gentle soul, maybe a monk in her past life.
I will miss her head-butts for attention, reaching out and grabbing at me as I walk by her on the stairs (in pic) so she can get pet and her leg warming cat naps.
Now that I think about it, I was completely manipulated

LS6 Tommy,

Sorry, I was responding Plastikosmd loss of his cat rather than my own, easy mistake.

Sorry guys, I hit "Quote" on the wrong post.

Plasitkosmd, my favorite cat, Dude, used to do the same things. He'd even reach out and use his claws to pull my head closer so he could "groom" me. Apparently he could see I had a hair out of place that I didn't see in the mirror.
:lol_hitti

God, they are incredible animals.

We have recently lost so many pets amongst our group. Sad times.

I had a cat that groomed my head... it's buzz cut and felt weird having a cat lick it. He also had a teddy bear that he literally licked all the fuzz off of. Hugged it like a baby.

My cat ghost found me in the garage in 2006. He kept disappearing and reappearing for weeks...hence the name ghost. He's a neutered male
orange marmalade and definitely a guys' cat. He works around the house and shop as hard as I do. He catches the mice and chipmunks in exchange for room and board. He demands lap time quite often during the day.

Wow, I feel fortunate that my little buddies Meesha and Maynard are still with me. Meesha is now 15, Maynard at least 17. He recently developed a sizable lump on his back near his tail. Pretty sure its not a matt, because it has density to it, and if I squeeze it he doesn't complain. Gotta get him to the vet, maybe its a benign lipoma, I hope.

Plastikosmd, sorry for the loss of Mosaic. She looks almost exactly like one of my cats, named Mercedes.

I never new what a tortie cat was until we adopted Mercedes as a kitten back in August 2010. From what everyone says about them, they all seem to have very similar traits, such as being talkative, giving head butts to their "people", and being a bit more aloof than other breads seem to be.

Sorry for your loss plasti. Don’t know what I’d do without mine.

We had an orange tomcat that showed up as a kitten back when I was a teenager working on my old Fairlane. I was under the car trying to install the wrong trans for the car, very frustrated and next thing I know, there is a little orange kitten on my chest.

He eventually became Dad's best friend, became quite the large and beat up Tomcat. He would often bring him home moles and rabbits from the yard. When Dad would take his little ankle biter dogs on a walk, "Red" would walk with them, just out of sight. If another walker with a dog approached, Red would come out of the shadows and jump up on the back or the dog and go to town on him.
One day a lady was walking her dog and asked Dad if he was the one with the guard cat she had heard about. "Lady, you're about to find out." Red did his thing and her dog hauled *** down the road with Red riding him like a horse and her in tow holding onto his leash. :lol_hitti

I had an indoor cat that stood on his hind legs... growled and chased his victim with his swinging paws, wolverine claws extended. I almost peed myself when he went after our tax assessor, who was trespassing without our permission, inside a house we were fixing.

This our shop cat Cleo "Bump" Brown. She is a relatively young rescue cat that recently came down with kidney issues way too early so we are doing the fluids too. She has always been a STEM girl and loves nothing more than to come out to the shop and do some "mechanicing". No fear of any kind of power tools. I knew she was tough early on when I was cutting some 3/4 iron pipe in a vice with a sawsall and looked over at other end and she was curled up with her head resting on the vibrating pipe. She sits on all the bike seats and has never once touched them with a claw.

One of our cats, Gracie, had chronic kidney issues. We did 100mL of subQ fluids daily. As she got worse, the Vet upped the fluids to 200mL. I don't want to alarm you guys, but please be very careful and monitor their breathing closely. Kidneys like to be "wet", hearts like to be "dry". Gracie ended up with congestive heart failure, but she had always had a heart murmur.

Went through that not long ago... I would rather not watch a pet die like that again.

“Patches” was a stray in the neighborhood all summer. She mooched off several neighbors for different periods. When it started to get cold I found her in the garage sitting on a padded stool like she owned it. We started keeping her in the garage as she used to fight with the indoor cats through the patio slider.

As it got colder we’ve brought her into the mud room. Please notice she’s laying in her cat bed. In forty years of owning various cats, It’s the first thing I’ve bought for a cat that cat actually used! Lol

Took her to vet and found out she’s chipped. The company has called several times but no one answers or has claimed her.
Once it warms up she’ll be back out in the garage.
The couple times it’s been warm enough to work out there she hasn’t flinched around the noise.

The most recent sign she’s adopted us? Yesterday we received our first dead bird at the base of the house entrance steps in the garage.

That is one beauty there.

This week has been tough. My little 17yr old Siberian Sealpoint has been acting up, hiding, not eating, not her usual talkative self, follow me into the bathroom every time, sitting next to me at dinner asking "rrrrooowwwllll" for a bit of people-chicken. Been to the vet twice, intravenous fluids, blood work, her numbers are all ok and she is hydrated now. Slowly getting better. Vet gave me some meds, little pills to give her. Good luck with that so I got some canned chicken chunks, pushed half a pill into one piece, and she did eat it. Then just minutes later she a major drooling mess. Maybe an allergic reaction? I'll find out tomorrow morning when she gets the other half pill.

My bride found this (cat crack I call it) and my cat wants it every morning at 5-6am now. Our cat is now 10 and she’s never eaten much earlier than 9am til we started giving her this dried chicken. She’d eat the entire bag at once if we allowed her to eat it but we ration her to once a day. It’s not cheap but she LOVES IT.

Any one else give their cat(s) this?

Oh yes, that stuff is a problem. My wife buys the dog version because it's cheaper and breaks it up into smaller pieces. Too dry to be healthy, but the cat a love it.
There is also a dried fish flakes version, bonito flakes... Just as much of a problem!
She uses both as an occasional topping on their foods.

So Theo is 11 or 12 years old at this point. He got REALLY fat for a while and is now having some medical issues so he has lost a bunch of weight. The vet has done a bunch of tests and they can't find anything wrong. He's never been a talker or a cuddler but he WILL walk up next to me as I'm sitting in my desk chair, stretch up and tap me on the shoulder when he's getting hungry. It's a little startling if I don't see him coming and I'm alone in the house . . .

We have another cat Evinrude who seems to have put on all the weight that Theo has lost - so we still have 30+ #'s of cat in the house. It just moved between the cats. . .

Cheers

Jim

RB: at one time years ago I was going to start a thread RIP OUR FURRY FRIENDS cause OMG it's hard on us when they go. that said sorry for your loss and hope Bob (the 2nd or 13th) helps fill your heart where the other Bob will rest forever.

Jim: one of my favorite cats picked up something the VETS never figured out and at one point when she was about 2 years old they did a $1000 surgery that didn't take and offered to put her down at no cost. we went to another vet that wasn't sure what she had either and she gave us some pills that kept her alive (and healthy for most of the remaining 6 years she was with us).

good luck and maybe offer her some of the Kitty (or dog) Crack our 10 year old cat loves at 6am every day now (we used to just sprinkle a bit of it on her food to get her to eat that, but now she just wants a small handful daily).

This is New Bob....old Bob died.....
Sorry to hear about Old Bob... New Bob, looks like our Weirdo... Weirdo is not black tho... he is a VERY dark brown. In the sunlight ... he looks like a hairy turd. He is the best tho... I bottle fed him from 3 weeks old... till he would eat dry food. Won't touch wet food... maybe a lick or two... then walks away.
