This site is crazy (awesome). I didn't even know I loved tool boards until now. Now thinking about it, seeing all these boards reminds me of going to B&Z Auto with my Dad when I was a kid. I don't even remember what brand(s) they carried, but I remember admiring those neat rows of wrenches and sockets hanging on the board behind the counter. :)

I must have missed the description of the new board you're waiting on? What brand is that one?

I have found some Blackhawk boards a guy was wanting to sell. Basically I figured I got the boards for free and had to pay for the tools. An almost complete set of 1/2 drive and 3/8 and some 1/4. I now have boards to go with my pretty Blackhawk box that I have:bounce:

Well, as luck would have it, nearly all my Husky 1/2 drive sockets are 12 points. But I do have about fifteen 1/4 drive Husky's. Which sizes are you missing?

Basically 7/32 to 1/2 six point for shallow and 1/4 to 7/16 for the deep. I think I have some 8pt somewhere, they are older but should work on the board, they have the H#### instead of the CM-8##. Also do you have a 1/2dr 1-1/16 socket, that is also one major hole I need to fill.

Yeah, seriously, 930 Dreamer went above and beyond the call of duty and acted like a hero here.

The boards look great. Have fun putting all the hooks and pegs back in!

Also, keep those red boards that I see in the background nice and safe :bounce:

Well the new boards showed up today:

Mind you the 1/2 long ratchet is a V9R MAC and the 1/4 breaker is the same Penncraft from the Husky board, all the sockets and 1/2 extensions and rebuild kits came with the boards.

Hey guys, has anyone found any new tool display boards? I love to see these...the older the better.

In the meantime, I FINALLY have the time to start sorting the hundreds of tools I've bought in recent weeks into brand-name groups. Several folks from this thread asked if I had certain tools in the past, which I couldn't really answer yet. So...anyone got any new updated "want lists"?

Now I'm trying to decide what sort of tool board I should be looking for? Maybe Blackhawk, Bonney, or Mac? :headscrat

Anyone got any ideas for me? Space is very limited in my home garage.

You see, I boned myself with this thread. I used to be the ONLY bidder on tool boards on eBay. Now, I often have competition, which means higher prices. This is why I no longer post about what new things I am into collecting anymore!

That being said, I just got 8 tool boards from a heroic member here who sold them to me for a bargain. I'm indebted to him. I will post some pics when I get a chance. Seven are Blackhawk, one is Proto.

Ha! I understand completely. I do the same thing everytime I post a thread about a recent haul I got with bargain prices...other folks sometimes want me to sell the them at the same price...and to pay the shipping for them too! :lol_hitti

I really looking forward to seeing pix of your new boards. I'll eventually find something for myself. Not sure what brand. But some of those really old brands with really cool logos and etc. sure do appeal...like "Hinsdale" and "Ray" and "New Britain," etc.

I also have a 1920 hardbound Beckley-Ralston catalog of tools and auto parts n accessories. These are wholesale catalogs, so they often show displays, kits, and sales aids (like price tags, receipt books, work orders, etc) for auto parts stores and/or garages. Here is a page with two screwdriver displays. Hope you enjoy...

Lump,

Thanks for posting the catalog images. I was able to identify an old wood handled screwdriver I've had for over 30 years. I've always wondered who the OEM of this little screwdriver was. I took one look at the 1920 Beckley-Ralston catalog page you posted and there it was... a BR, # BT73, "Little Wonder" Screwdriver. Thanks for the post, and by all means, post some more.

They look great. Did the guy say anything when your dad picked them up?

I picked them up (I was going to Vandalia anyways), but the guy wasn't home. But, I talked to him on the phone and he seemed not too worried about them. He just wanted to make sure that I got them. Galeforcelarry is a good guy to buy from, for future reference.

He's a bit more trusting than I am. He said that the front door was open and to go in and get them whenever. I guess it would've been a bit different story if I didn't put my name on everything and wasn't local, though.

The reason that the shipping was so expensive is that they were all in a box with a lot of cut up cardboard keeping the boards from touching each other... The extra price for shipping would've been worth it.

Geez, he just had you go into his house when he wasn't there? That's crazy.

If you want to add the combo wrench and double offset box wrench boards to your lineup, let me know.

Gary,
I went to an auction LAST weekend, and got two of the coolest vintage tool catalogs I have EVER seen. They show line-art images of all the tools by brand names...right next to each other. Which will help to compare these vintage tools. The only problem....these catalogs are literally about 900 hundred pages thick...and FILLED with images of tools by brand name. Whew!

Nice looking boards. Did you buy that Proto board fom Bull? If it is, that thing has been on quite the journey. I bought it from Texas, shipped it from NY to Bull in Mass. and now back to Texas.

Can I sneak this one in?

Purchased bare, I've added the pliers on the right are named Vesta but tend to slip through the bracket.

Pliers on the left are Vlchek, have a chrome set by Gray which don't fit.

Pullers I've seen but I don't know if they were named.

Top center tool I've never sighted.

Maybe the lot was Australian sourced?

Was Vesta a USofA company?

The board shows a very small range of BS/Whitworth tools, just the 4 small sizes and no double box or open end wrenches which I know Proto have made.

That's the range shown in the Proto 1961 Catalog but alas not on one of the 15 Self-Service merchandisers shown in this image.

Never heard of "Vesta" tools. But very cool board, indeed. I'll bet that the mystery tool on this board was a post cleaner tool, of the type which scrapes off a thin layer of lead. A post cleaner is the only obvious battery service tool which is not otherwise shown on the board, which was my first clue. Looking at it further, I wonder if the cutting part is shown at left, and the part which hangs over the hook at right is hinged, and stands up straight to be a turning handle, for shaving the layer of lead from the post.

Just a thought. Nice board!

Definately a USA Company with Worldwide subsidiaries but my tool rack won't be this old.

The pliers on the right are the terminal clamp reamer and expander which works on the small negative and larger positive one.

I'll go with the post scraper for the center tool but from the silhouette I cannot see how two sizes are available, or perhaps there was was just one large scraper for the +ve pole as it self forms an oxide layer.

The Australian Company name was absorbed in 1963, may have been used on labels for some time thereafter.

Thought I would revive this from the depths, I cleaned up my boxes so I figured it was a good chance to take some pics of my boards. I have 5 or so more Proto boards & 10 or so more Snap-On boards and I need to get them all up and organized, but I am having fun with them so far. If anyone has some of the stuff I am missing let me know!

Had to revive this old thread, to show you all the 3 Husky tool boards I picked up Friday at an estate sale. The owner was using them as cabinet doors.

Cool, eh? Price was $5 each. Not sure whether I will keep them or flip 'em on eBay or GJ Classified. But I have a plastic tub filled with Husky tools, so I'm curious to see if I can fill any of these pegs first.
