I don't have any pics today, but the crew came back and set the forms for the pads in the back today. Also, the electrician came and set the box for the meter to be plugged into. Contractor says 5/30 and we are done, but I have a suspicion we will be haggling over the punch list.

This update is posted with a grin, because I can't let myself get pissed.
The crew showed up today to pour the concrete slabs in the back of the shop. We had an inch of rain here last night.
This pic shows it best.
I ended up pulling their concrete cart and truck out with my truck.
After I got them out, I suggested they back through the garage to pour one pad. They ended up pouring the other one with my wheel barrow and some 5 gallon buckets.
I think it looks like a huge cannon about to fire.
Painting and gutters came to finish up their work, but they are going to have come back and finish because of this catastrophe.

We got power! Utility came out yesterday and plugged me in. I have started running data lines and staking boxes for the rest of the work I will be doing.
I had the AC guy come out today and look over the place and put together a bid for the work. I am still trying to decide between spray foam or fiberglass insulation. I want foam, but my wallet disagrees.
I can do fiberglass, but I have to hire out the foam. I guess I should call around to some foam vendors and see what the damage is.
The builder still has a few things left on his punch list to complete:
1. Remove the ball stop from the sewage pipes so the plumbing will drain.
2. Clean up the work site
3. Repair damage to the yard
Here are some of the final exterior shots:
After they clean up the yard and repair their damage, I will go in and do the landscaping as well.

re; fiberglass insulation - it is one of those jobs that just doesn't save to do it yourself. I found that it only required about 5% over my cost (or actually less than my material cost) to hire someone to supply it and install it. I suspect that there is quite a racket in fiberglass materials.

Purdy fancy barn ya got there now.
Technically, we aren't done yet! The builder still has not been paid as they were a no show for the remaining items. I have stopped pushing them as well. If they don't want their money, I am fine with that.
Me, on the other hand have been hard at work. I have started moving some stuff in and getting setup to be able to work out there during the day.
I have staked all the outlets in the shop and will be running wire back to the breaker box over the next week. I have also installed a low voltage box for my data and satellite cables.
I am also working on some minor landscaping items too. Right now, I am just grading out all the hills and valleys around the slab so it looks a little better. Still trying to figure out the landscape plan.

I got half the electrical done this last weekend. I hooked up all the outlets for general use and those that required dedicated circuits (CNC, dust collector, and air compressor).
I started on the wiring for lighting, but I need Sheetrock in place to finish.
Builder has fixed the plumbing issue and I no longer have to go to the house when nature calls.
However, they still need to repair the damage to the yard from the work trucks and cement truck.

Looking good. Keep on those contractors. Unfortunately not everyone does.
It's been a week since I last heard from my contractor. All they need to do is repair the yard and get me a lien release from each sub and supplier. Can't understand why they are ignoring me when the cost of the remaining work is far less than the balance.
Are they waiting me out?
Is there a statute of limitations to file lien releases?
I got clearance from the city and have moved my stuff in and have begun my part of the finishing. Nit keeping me from doing anything at this time. I would just lie, the yard fixed.

Still waiting out the contractor on my yard. However, I figured I'd start doing drywall on interior walls while I still figure out what I want to do about insulation.
Also, I repurposed an old bench top I had to turn it into a desktop for the computers going out there.
Stained MDF with some old stain I had left over from another project.

Finished painting in the tool room today. This room will just be used to house my toolboxes and storage for small parts for projects. I did not want the general work area to be the same place all my tools went in.
I did not texture the walls. These are just smooth drywall. While texture is great at hiding all my sins, it tends to be a good surface to collect dust.
I started moving my toolboxes in as well.
I need to clean out some floor cabinets to move them and build a bench top from the tool boxes that wraps around to the floor cabinets once installed.
That will be in the next update.

I am proud to say that the builder has finished their part of the deal!
After a month of ignoring phone calls, texts, and e-mails; they came out yesterday and finished filling the ruts in the yard caused by work trucks during the course of the build. In addition, I did get the lien releases from each sub contractor as well!
Also, got the door painted and am bringing in the floor cabinets now.

Been a while since I posted anything. I finished the tool room and started up the CNC again to help pay for it all.
Also, I got the lawn mower room mostly done. Still have some cleaning to do.
I keep the Air Compressor and Dust Collector in there as well. Keeps the noise and dust down.
I am still trying to decide about insulation and am not doing exterior walls just yet.

Been a while since I have done anything, but I got me a new toy.
It's a 48x96 CNC. I use it for wood, foam and plastics. I bought it as a kit that I had to assemble. It saves on the total cost, since you build it and it can be shipped in parts. The other advantage is that since you put it together you know more about what goes into it.
My previous CNC was 24x48. I love the idea of feeding this full sheets of plywood or MDF at a time as opposed to cutting up into usable sheets first. Not to mention being able to cut bigger items!

I just read your post from front to back, great looking shop you have there. I am a neighbor from a little bit up the road in the Van Alstyne area.
My shop is on hold at the moment, I am in the concrete contractors queue, as he is backed up because of all the rain.

nice new cnc! which one did you go with? how was assembly?
I bought it from CNCRouterparts.com I think it just as strong as some of the bigger ones, but not as much of the overhead. The guys know their stuff and support has been good so far.
Assembly took me about a week of an hour here a couple hours there to get it done. I estimate about 20 man hours to finish the whole thing. That did not include building a table for it to go on or tweaking the settings once it was all put together.
