I just talked to consumers energy about changing my overhead run to underground and the engineer told me $7.50 a ft/$10.50 a ft (summer vs winter rate) to do the new run for a 200amp service.

^ ^ That's a good deal.

My PoCo wanted $425 to convert aerial to buried (approx 20 ft from pole to my detached garage) . . . BUT . . I would need to dig the trench and provide 3" conduit !!!!!

I thought it was to. in my mind its not even worth the time for me to even dig the trench(approx 80'). the engineer said because i wanted to up grade from 100amp to 200amp main service that they would not charge me a change fee to go to a buried feed. He was even nice enough to tell me wait till april 15th so i could get the summer rate.
