Pressure Washer. Adjustable Water PSI ?

Can I place a ball valve before the outlet (sprayer) so I can reduce the pressure of the spray for smaller items to large, without hurting the unit's pump ?

pretty sure you run the risk of overheating the pump due to restricted water flow . that can quickly kill a pump

Some pressure washers have an adjustable pressure regulator. But generally speaking, you just put a nozzle with a larger diameter orifice or a wider spray angle.
