Pressure washer no pressure

I used my pressure washer last week for 3 days and today no pressure. Starts fine, but less pressure than the garden hose.
The motor does not kick in like before when you squeezed the trigger. Nozzles, filter, hoses all clear.
Any ideas gents?BE2C6637-9926-422E-A182-0677CECD7C36.jpeg3FB12493-06EF-4B94-A538-0D76D5EF59E1.jpeg

The spring is very tight. Couldn’t get a small screwdriver in there to pry it out. There is paint on the bolt threads and nut so I don’t think it has moved down or you would see it.
The strange thing is how it worked one day and not a week later.
Not gradual and not catastrophic

I’ve used two different taps/hoses.
Blown out the line and gun.
Cleaned the filter.
Common sense says this should be an easy fix. Wasted day instead.

Taking a guess, Im thinking the bottom o- ring of your valve let loose. Keeping it in bypass all the time. Regardless,I can't think of any reason for your symptom that isn't related to that valve.

Looks ok, what about the port in the side? I can't make it out in the pic. Should be a port between the o-rings. Plus I'd sort of inspect where the ball seats.

It's probably beyond my ability here sorry if none of this helps. It's just always been something with that valve when I've had the same issue.

The port was clean, but it doesn’t look like it goes anywhere.
How does this valve work?
It takes very little pressure to push the shaft in and it appears to sit on a ball bearing in the housing which doesn’t move.

Had to check that out myself......

Looks like that ball has to come up to give you high pressure. It may be stuck in the down position.

The port in the unloader just allows the high pressure to push the ball back down to go back into bypass.

Also, while I was hunting around I did find out about these little plastic check valves in the pump though I have no idea how to diagnose them.....

I believe these will fit for yours...

My other suggestion would be to fill it with pump oil and let it sit overnight and then try again.... whatever is stuck might unstick.

interesting thread. If a brass pump I probably would have just looked for a rebuild kit. If aluminum replaced it. Glad you found your issue.

That pump was made to appear heavy duty. They are notorious for sudden failures, and short service life. The usual cheapest repair is just replacing the pump.

Replace the pump or the pressure washer?
I’ve had it for 20 years and only use it every couple of years.
Maybe 30 tanks of gas through it.
Not sure if I can even get parts.

Is there any numbers or names on the pump? I have always been able to find something that would bolt up. Try searching " horizontal shaft pressure washer pump"

Can’t find one that fits.
You can pretty much put whatever you want on there as far as replacement units go. You're just going to be off the book.

Most of these are pretty generic anyhow. If you look at parts for other pressure washers and find a part that looks like your part, chances are it will work.

Or just take your part to a small engine shop, good chance one of the guys will say oh, yeah that looks like the X brand one, let's compare and see if it looks right.

so I am not trying to tell anyone how to fix their pump but a quick Google yielded pumps for sale and manuals. It also showed a Canadian Simoniz page which shows their history of pressure washers. Using a model number from one like you show, took me to a page of companies that sell pump parts, and blow ups of the pump. Maybe you might consider doing a little more research on it before you throw in the towel. Examples

You guys are right. Maybe I didn't look hard enough. I'm in Canada so ordering from the US is not cost effective.

Rod - I can't tell for sure without speaking with someone. I think from Googling that is a GQX model pump, but that is just a guess. Going to this page https://www.ppe-pressure-washer-parts.com/simoniz-039-8583-4-pressure-washer-parts and scrolling down to the picture of "Piston assy" may be the part you are looking for. You might want to go to the bottom of their home page, "contact" and send them a message with a link to the photos in this thread. Maybe they can tell you what parts you need. They are in Vancouver WA so it might be possible to make arrangements to get the parts to Canada. They may even have sources in Canada they can ship from. Good luck.
