Unfortunately that's all I've really seen, the spring adjustment become loose, or that port in the side get clogged. Thanks!
Didn’t make a difference. It does move freely up and down.
Taking a guess, Im thinking the bottom o- ring of your valve let loose. Keeping it in bypass all the time. Regardless,I can't think of any reason for your symptom that isn't related to that valve. The spring is very tight. Couldn’t get a small screwdriver in there to pry it out. There is paint on the bolt threads and nut so I don’t think it has moved down or you would see it.
The strange thing is how it worked one day and not a week later.
Not gradual and not catastrophic
Had to check that out myself......The port was clean, but it doesn’t look like it goes anywhere.
How does this valve work?
It takes very little pressure to push the shaft in and it appears to sit on a ball bearing in the housing which doesn’t move.
Also, while I was hunting around I did find out about these little plastic check valves in the pump though I have no idea how to diagnose them.....The port was clean, but it doesn’t look like it goes anywhere.

I would guess you found the problem there.
You can pretty much put whatever you want on there as far as replacement units go. You're just going to be off the book. Can’t find one that fits.
got mine from Amazon. brand don't matter. just make sure the shaft size is the same and the bolt pattern. Can’t find one that fits.
