not worth it if you have to "save money" for it.
spend the money on the tools and get a real tool box instead.
There is some common concensus here in general, first, its up to you but second is to keep it in perspective about whats important, the 50% off wouldnt mean squat to me, when I had it didnt use due to the fact you can buy these tools like new at any time for 50 cents or less on the dollar.
I agree, something simple, something reasonable and get whats needed when needed. As we see in other thread,,, someone repo one of those big boxes,,,says it all. If I had to start over,,, burnt to the ground etc, and I do have it all,,,, it would be a combination of HF, Walmart and good deals on used tools when I came across them, there is no point in spending 2, 3, 4 years of a career collecting, paying for stuff you really use a portion of for the most part, guys get full wrench set of every one they make and routinely use one out of it.
Not that guys with big boxes are not fine mechanics but as a professional of 30+ years its not something I look at, in fact I look closer to see if a guy has matched his tools to the work vs having one of everything, one of the best mechanics I know has a set of hand tools wouldnt bring 50$ at a good sale, some of little junk from when he was a kid, probably spent less than 10$ at a time for anything in last decades, last time he was here I see a cheap set of something,,, must have had a piece of something he didnt have, likely kept that and dumped the rest as un needed.
The guy can do anything but has a good meter and soldering iron
