Over here, we get sale prices a day before, I always go to beat the crowds and to get best selection, was there today.
For the most part, that's true at the Newmarket / East Gwillumbury store too. Some times it's a few days in advance and it's not all items all of the time.

I showed up at my Princess Auto at 7:55, 5 minutes before it opened. (I thought it opened at 7:00.) I grabbed a set of metric and SAE thin wrenches. They say they're drop forged. They look like they may be stamped out of 1/8" steel plate. And they're from everybody's favourite COO. But at least they're chrome plated.

I went back after work with a co-worker to get a set for him, but they were all gone. There was about 50 sets of each this morning.

My store is a joke! They won't be getting the metal punch set at all.

Not very happy about that.

I am not a huge fan of the Grip brand most there stuff is made in india, i tried products from india before & i try to steer away from them
To me taiwan is ok, china depends on the manufacture/intended usage , but india cant think of anything

I was in my local PA today. It had 3 on the shelf, but I couldn't find it myself, since the kit is inside a yellow metal box. Sorry the pics are so crappy.

Guys, thought this was worth a post, the Titan special buy 3 piece long handled soft grip flex-head ratchet set is back on sale for $60 plus tax! Sale starts on the 9th, but most of the time if you have the new flyer in hand or if you just ask they can give you that price a couple days in advance.

Also some parts assortment and the snap ring plier set are on sale too, decent deals.

Having some PAL problems. Going to have to take this up with the head office.

So i did take this up with head office. A guy named Kevin who is a manager was a very helpful man. For some reason, every time this metal punch comes up for sale, all of BC gets the shaft. Even tho they had stock in a warehouse and my store tried to order it, the store got the shaft again.

I took it up with Kevin and he said there is something very wrong going on for many other stores to have double digit stock, and BC gets none. He said he would get to the bottom of it and if i have problems with an item like this again, to call him and he will take care of it.

He sent me the metal punch and waved shipping. Very nice man and it was nice of him to step up like that.

He also told me, if a store doesn't have stock on a item, but said item is available for purchase online, that the team leader of the store has to call head office and that item will be mailed to your store with your name on it. He said not many people know that they have to do this for the customer.

Don't tell anyone, GJ:bounce:

Sometimes the store manager chooses not to stock certain items,my local store never stocks the silver and deming drill sets I asked the manager why and he told me "the return rate is so high that they must be junk"

The ones I purchased were not sharpened correctly. I fiddled and sort of got them to a usable state. If I had not been a bind they would have gone back.

That's a different story. And if said item was junk, i wouldn't order it either. Special buy items aren't ordered by the store, they're ordered by the head office and distributed to the stores of their choice. Nothing to do with the store at all.

Just picked these up:

http://www.princessauto.com/en/detail/10-pc-1-2-in-dr-sae-impact-socket-set/A-p8503534e

$9 for 10 Cr-Mo Taiwanese impact sockets. Picked up two sets, one for myself and one for my uncle. Also picked up a bunch of OSCA Italian made ball-peens (14 and 24 oz) and a 2.5 lb cross-peen (yes, I ordered 3 of each just to ensure I get better odds when sifting through them for one with proper handle grain orientation) LOL.

How NOT to ship hammers....thanks PA! Verdict on the OSCA hammers? They need to finish the heads better (twice as rough as the Estwing clubs) and select better handles. And also varnish/coat it with something a bit more chemical resistant. And I think their forging needs to be more precise - I've never seen a fiberglass-handled hammer with a head that's hafted on an angle. Feels good though, I like the swing. All in all, decent pieces for the prices paid - in this price range you're stuck with Asian hammers.

1/4" and 3/8" swivel ratchets
They look well made but 3/8 is LAWED and they both have traces of oil oozing out
On sale during July if you find them , my 2 closest stores had only one 1/4" and some 3/8"s in langley, coquitlam store is sold out

Kind of a ******* electronic design the users manual recommends that you crank down the reading back to 0 after every use like a mechanical clicker type of torque wrench.
Huge for a 1/4" dr as well.

Hmm... I better keep looking then. thanks for that.

Just picked up a "Pedestal Mount Metal Bender" (part number 2910165) from my local Princess Auto for $30.01, regular $149.99. The guy at the store said they're clearing out the old stock, they have a newer model in now.

ormgrt.jpg

The manual says:

Die size is 1" to 3"
Max bending capacity is 3"
Max bending diameter is 5/8"
Max bending flat is 5/16" x 2"

So it's a fairly light model, but for that price it's pretty hard to beat.
