so, has anyone who did not create/have an account get theirs yet? if you did not pick up, did you get a shipping notification?

I did. I ordered 4 sets using a guest account. All 4 were delivered last week on Wednesday or Thursday

it would be smart if they just pushed out email when they had delivery dates or allowed me to check an order online with the order number and billing zip, rather than tie up phone people to answer these questions.

My order was cancelled to my APO address. Grainger reached out and provided excellent customer service but just couldn't ship overseas without an account. Although disappointed, I am happy with their communication and desire to assist. I could have had it shipped to a US address and then reshipped to APO but the double shipping would have added up quick. I am now having second thoughts and probably should have gone that route, it was still a good deal.

I have the email I received, when I placed the order, but I show no order history under my account. Should I be concerned?

Grainger has a Live Chat feature on their website. I used it when my expected delivery date came and went. The person I chatted with was very helpful in determining when I could expect delivery.

They are probably just shipping out either certain quantity to each store, or filling order totals based on store X needing 20 units, then that store ships out to the individuals that ordered from that location.

Ugh I don't like you! Wish I could have gotten in on this deal!

I really don't get this "I'm going to call/chat/email/telegram/protest naked in front of the call center until I get an answer" hand wringing.

It's simple. We got a great price. Grainger hasn't cancelled the orders. There is evidence they are filling the orders when they get them. Sooner or later, you're going to get your order.

Is anyone here harassing Grainger about this completely without a socket set? If not, think spring, kick back, and enjoy the surprise when it shows up on your door step. I have 2 sets on order and find this all amusing. I'm up to my friggen eyeballs in socket sets.

Has everyone who received theirs get shipping confirmation email before they get them or is it a surprise?

That's not exactly how it may go.

They may just suddenly stop shipping orders and cancel

Been there, done that, got the tee shirt...

... didn't get the welder

I agree with the perspective that it's a great deal, yet I don't think it's too much to expect an email with a new ETA when the promised date passed. In this case, you really have to be on top of it to find out what's going on (via email, chat, or phone call), no online status when you login either. It might be different for those with biz accounts.

Yeah, but if they do, what difference would it ever have made harassing customer service people about it? Nothing. If that's the outcome, that's the outcome. What I'm saying is, I don't think getting on the phone is going to do anything one way or another. Unless you ordered 9 sets, you probably don't have a lot of money ******* in this. And Grainger is legit enough that you're going to be made whole. I don't believe they have charged until the sets ship.

Keep in mind that call centers are HIGHLY monitored. After ** amount of calls on the same product they are going to look into why.

I agree, I dont see the big deal they're taking some time.

The bigger issue is the vultures who ordered large quantities of these to make profit.

Apparently a lot of these people are too dense to understand the point you're trying to make. The elephant in the room is that Grainger made an obvious price mistake, and will most likely lose money on every socket set they happen to ship.

I ordered one set, and if I end up with it, I'll consider it a fantastic deal. Basically a gift. I'll have a nicer grade of tools than I would ever buy at regular price. If I don't, it won't be the first time something "too good to be true" didn't pan out.

In my mind, the best chance of me getting a set is to patiently wait and see what happens. It was pure luck that I was able to order that socket set at that price. The dumbest thing I can think of is to bug the seller and demand to know if and when they'll complete the order that I know full well they didn't intend to sell me at a loss.

while you might be correct about the inadvisability of calling them to ask about where the set is, a week after they promised it, i think you are missing something.

maybe grainger does need to look into this. it is pretty clear, at least to me, that they are honoring these orders because they think it is a cheap way to maintain their reputation.

and they are probably correct, as far as that goes.

but, they are also impressing on me that if i were to order anything, there will be some initial contact (including a note to take a customer survey), but then they will ignore me, and make it painful to figure out what is going on.

i also ordered one set, and if i dont get it, i will also write it off as another "too good to be true deal". but either way, i will remember the customer service i have receive so far, and it will effect my decision to place additional orders. honestly, i would have more respect for them if they had sent an email after a day or two and said that the price was a mistake, and they were canceling the order, and they hoped i understood.

leaving me hanging is bad business.

for what it is worth, zoro.com (which i recall as being owned by grainger) has exactly the same issue. which is why after two or three initial orders, i won't order there again unless it is an insane deal.

100% right. I sure wish all y'all Nervous Nancy's would stop calling and chatting, you're doing your dangest to attract attention to a pricing error.

I agree. Why bring more unnecessary attention to a flaw or error made that apparently many may be able to benefit from?

Yup those who harass the call centre will most likely be responsible for cancelling the orders. Knowing when to sit down and shut up is a skill these days fewer have mastered.

This set is now priced at $326.50 on Grainger's site, they are costing themselves plenty every time they sell at the price they have.

Wow. Sounds like you want an insane deal AND the high level of personal customer service that you so obviously demand. I won't even get into the pain you have suffered trying to figure it out. Hopefully they realize what an important customer you are, refund your money and hand deliver at least two sets of sockets for each time you've had to check your email. You deserve it.

It’s amazing the number of people that know they are exploiting an obvious pricing error, buying multiple sets for the purpose of reselling and then complaining and acting like they are being victimized by the big bad company.

As for stuff like this...

i won't order there again unless it is an insane deal.

I don’t think you are their target market.

Maybe call and encourage them to cancel any order above 1-2 sets. Screw the resellers
