Got the same email yesterday also.

Did anyone else reply since it says "please advise by phone or email if you would like to keep this item on backorder, or cancel the item for a full refund"?

Good catch, I missed that.

I just replied to keep it on backorder

Got a reply to my reply, so nice to know theyre at least active on it. Now if it would just arrive lol

Haven't received mine yet, but I plan to put the sockets on rails and have the ratchet and extension on the top tray of my 20" Craftsman tool box. The rails can go underneath with the other bigger items. My goal is to have an all-around good set-up for basic household tasks that don't require power tools. You mileage may vary.

Those of you who have actually received or have picked up the set from Grainger, what does it indicate as from what country the item was produced in?

China?

Taiwan?

etc....

Picked mine up today, and man is she a beauty! Happy I did too because I needed it to work on my father in laws mower. Very hefty. I just wish it has 6 point sockets but I can't complain

Still waiting for my shipping notification :( Got an email to say should ship by 5/15, so still hopeful. Slowly moving my Craftsman ratchets to the vehicles and keeping the Williams, Snapon, & Proto in the garage boxes.

Picked up from local store today- got 2 sets.

Make sure you check the sockets. One set was missing the 17mm socket and there was a 6 pt 16mm.

I called Grainger and they are actually going to mail me a whole new set and said I can keep the other "defective" set!

Crazy customer service. If they really do ship me a new set, I think they've earned a customer for life@!

It only took almost 3 months, but I finally got my sets today. Definitely worth the wait at this price.

I actually got a set for me and a set for my brother in law, but he couldn't stand the wait and bought himself a different set. So, I have an extra one I'd be willing to sell to someone who missed out on the deal. Cost plus shipping.

Thanks.

Damn, nice quality for $30 bucks! Mine arrived today as well so I'll just thank the OP one more time. Nice contribution to the community, nycHorn.

The ratchet does feel great in the hand. I might prefer this to my Carlyle hard rubber grip. Not as many teeth but it sure is smooth! I'm sure it will get smoother with a little lube and time. The box is on the big side. Now I see why others were asking about a replacement metal box. Still a great way to end the day!

Got my ready for pick up email yesterday and picked them up today. Quite remarkable that they honored the $32.00 price. Really just amazing.

Finally shipped.

The production date on my set was about a month after it was ordered, and in my hands a couple weeks after that. I'm guessing Proto are working pretty hard to fill orders!

I hope Grainger and Proto don't lose too much on the deal, 'cause I give them all kudos for coming through for us. I'll make it a point to reward Grainger with more business than I'd have probably otherwise given them as thanks.

Can you explain how the production date codes work on the newer Proto tools like this set?

I got mine Tuesday. Very nice set, but then again I'm a big fan of Proto.

It's amazing that Grainger honored this--who knows how many they sold at that price.

I kinda doubt Proto took a hit on this, the opposite more likely.

Edit: I found the date codes for anyone interested.

For what it's worth, I have a breaker bar marked with a date of 3rd quarter last year--it does not have the new logo on it. The one that came with this set does.

TBH, I don't know more than the date printed on the SKU label for my set. That one doesn't take much to figure out...

The link I showed is pretty handy. The date code on the tools only shows year and quarter.

The breaker bar, ratchet, universal and the sockets that came in my set are marked 1S which is first quarter 2018. The two extensions are marked 2S, second quarter 2018. Not that it really matters, but interesting nonetheless.

The label on my box shows it was packed on 5-2-18.

Love that new tool smell.
