Found this 1/2" drive on CL for $15 and thought it was worth taking a chance.
Externally it cleaned up nicely, mostly covered in old WD-40 (the previous owner told me he sprayed it good years ago to keep it from rusting) and old grease. P.O. told me he used it as a ratchet because it has a long handle. Everything works but according to the shop calibration tools it is about 30% out of spec across the entire range. Next I'll take it apart to check for corrosion and more old grease; I figure it can't hurt to clean & inspect the innards, then re calibrate.
What is the approximate age, or how do I find a date code?
1. It is graduated from 10-150 FOOT POUNDS (not lb-ft as seen on many current wrenches), and there is no metric scale.
2. Next to PROTO is a fraction 2/73, is that a manufacturing date?
