...out of the acrylic.
My first thought was the exact opposite: putting special antique and vintage tools into it! Seriously, recreating those would be cool. All you'd need is a base, some graphics about the tool you want to display, the tool, a mold, and some acrylic or other resin to pour into it. Mrs. Lugz, who's been going crazy with free county programs (e.g., painting, mah-jong, etc) just made her own paperweights with flowers inside. I think I just talked myself into some tiny tool displays.

I had a 1/2" deep well socket tray that was a little rough, and recently bought a 3/8" shallow socket tray that was very rough. Yesterday I spent some time cleaning, degreasing, stripping, derusting with evaporust, and painting them. I like how they turned out. These socket trays are handy how they can be placed to hang on the edge of my Plomb Toolmobile.

Chevron (I assume the standard oil company of California) branded Proto pliers? Probably for service workers or oil riggers? (The other slip joints were for the style comparison) both California companies? It would make sense they would do a lil business?

working on a flying lady
Getting closer
I'm loving it! What's the material? and are you doing everything (layout, cutting, etc) by hand? I hope you don't take this the wrong way, but not doing it with a CNC enhances the appearance, because it looks authentic. Also, it's interesting that the logo is so familiar that you don't need all the details. Just the shape alone resonates with any late Plomb and early Proto collector. It looks really cool in plain silhouette! Brilliant idea.

The Flying Lady was actually first used on the cover of the Plomb 1942-1947 catalog 19R series. In reply to a thread about a 1951 Speed Age article on a Plomb blonde bombshell advertising model named Paula Doretti, I speculated that Paula was the model for the Flying Lady. Subsequent research by others on that thread revealed her to be a little too young, but she has an interesting biography. Given my known weakness for nutdrivers, I ordered these from an eBay seller. IMG_1271.jpeg
I added some others that I had around. IMG_1273.jpeg
A couple of them replaced some Vaco nutdrivers in my user toolbox, not that I have anything against Vaco. IMG_1285.jpeg

^ I just listed my two sets on ebay but you're not going to want to pay my prices.

I must have given that Proamerica set to somebody for Christmas last year. Couldn't find it anywhere.

who was the "Wizard" collector? Rileysan? He hasn't been around lately, has he?

That’s a nice set of wrenches! However I think you might get a lot more traction if your posted pictures where turned right side up. I see you post pictures like this on the garage sale thread and people don’t comment like they would if the photos were turned. Just a respectful/ helpful observation

That’s a great set! I run into very few chevron combos compared to chevron dbe’s and doe’s. Built good sets of dbe’s and doe’s via picking over the years, but no way could I do a set of combos without leaning heavily on ebay.

Proto Pro Chevron DBE's?
Wow....
I have never seen one out in the wild
Are they polished in the middle (between the chevrons) like the combo wrenches?

The combo chevrons turn up around here every now and then
One here, one there...
I have accumulated a fair number of culls along with my chevron keepers

Wait, you’ve managed to put up a nearly complete set of chevron combos but have never seen a chevron dbe in the wild? It’s so great how this hobby is as fickle as a feather in a stream. I’ll put up a pic or two of some dbe’s later today. No, not polished. That saves you the embarrassment of grabbing a polished beam Wizard out of a bin only to be disappointed like what happens with the combos 😀
So with that many chevron combos, do you have any three-star combos?
