Picked up what appears to be a Proto 5449 Ratchet. It is unmarked and has a smooth handle. I checked the other side of the plate and nothing there also. Perhaps a government contract item?

It was a low key weekend around here due to a bit of rain....
I found these two Protos

The bent nose slip joints were a cool find for me
They'll be useful, I just know it...
Proto LA adds to the coolness

I already have terminal pliers, but an extra backup pair is good to have

Recently I had the honor of picking through a well known collector here. I picked up a few things while there to bolster my proto collection. Guess I'm set on screwdrivers and sockets for a while. 90% of these tools are Proto LA with the remainder being Proto MFd . Also scored 1 dual mark dbe in the mix as well (has grind marks on it. Why does it seem like the dual marks are always found defaced or modified?)

Now you might be asking yourself what is that tray out of? The one with all the sockets and chisels ? Welp, its a 100HR. Now I have all the proto la and proto mfd versions out there (3). Also, some of my most favorite pieces out of the whole lot...this extractor set in the card board box. ***also note the 3/8 dr mfd era metric set of sockets in rail. Not a common find. Set is missing only one socket**

^ Yes. Those are clearly Petersen made. I grabbed those as soon as they were listed - both NOS. They work great for pinching off neoprene fuel line hoses on mowers.

Inherited a proto 1425 from my grandad and another 3rd generation kid in my apprenticeship class was using a 1428 in the shop and that caught my eye. Turns out our grandads were old mates and work most of their careers together.
Anyway since that day I’ve been hunting them down and saving them from the rusting heep. I don’t get out intentionally searching but I know how to spot em and take them home whenever I can and use them daily.
These are some I was cleaning and preparing for a display in my office. I’ve never lined a bunch up for a picture before. Happy to share.IMG_7466.jpeg

Got these IMG_0108.jpegIMG_0110.jpeg2Proto mfd era boards hung up on the wall. The hammer one never had a logo on it and it has a bunch of smudges on the lines so I wonder if this was a factory seconds board? But now I need to find a bunch of mfd era ball peins. Also got the pliers board up. Of course I find the pliers board for pliers that I have the least of.
