Hoorn, the handles are still rounded in that catalog, but they could have been using old stock pictures.

I have that same Cornwell Elite box, with the exception that there is either a bullet hole in the front, or someone slammed a crowbar into it very hard.

After picking up a tray of assorted sockets at a Tahoe yard sale on Friday, I added some Proto Professional 1/2” drive sockets to my user toolbox. They are now all Proto except for two Snap-on, one S-K and one Challenger socket.16CA0834-3DAA-4727-8C0B-E66824717CE5.jpegF3BE08A2-1FC7-402C-B99F-9E8C19197141.jpeg7DD9E19F-0E2F-4B80-A5C5-2BFABFCAB4D1.jpeg

This one has 4. Don't know about other variations
Right on! Mine has 3 and I would love to find one with the full amount of drawers for storage. There is one about 5 hours away that has been for sale forever that is a 4 drawer that has 2 different styles of handles that look like the lower drawer was purchased later because the lower compartment allowed for a modular configuration if you wants to change drawer depth, quantity, etc

Had a good day at the swap! I met up with Bmwrd0 and jabberwoki.

The best things of the day came by jabberwoki for sure. He traded me the doe wrench roll set. Wrenches look unused and is nearly complete.
While at a swap meet we were at today, he found the 100hr and held it until I could get there. Also got this Proto WF-38 ratchet from him as well. Super cool!

Also scored a few Proto la punches while there

That box is sweet!
Absolutely! I paid $35 for the box . It’s greasy but will clean up nice. It’s not beat up. I also have an mfd era one but someone stood on top of it so some spot welds are broken 😠. Not so on this one! I’m also pretty excited about the wrench set. They are unused

Took a quick picture of my 2
100HR boxes next to each other. I bought both at the same swap 4 years apart

I have these three Proto stubby DBEs. I bought them recently to replace a lost set, for nostalgic reasons. The size combinations are not common, and I love these wrenches.

My question: Did Proto make an 11/16" by 3/4" in this tool series? I've looked for one to complete the set, but have not seen even a single listing for that size combination. If I can find one, I'll have everything from 5/16" to 3/4" in a four-wrench set. I'd love that.

Smoke--you've had the other one for four years and the lid is still bent? :headscrat

Some knuckle dragger stood on the top of the box and broke some of the spot welds and bent the lid. I could fix it and bring it back but it just sits on my shelf and is eye candy so I have been busy with other more pressing projects :) . I have always wanted to find an earlier nicer box and now thanks to Eagle eye Jabberwoki, I now have one! Now I just need to find a plomb box and then I will have 3 eras of this 100HR.

Hey there! I just checked my 1955 and 1962 catalog and they don’t list the wrench size that you are inquiring about. Here is a view of the catalog page.
You can see the first few wrenches are your stubby type based on their overall length.

Thank you. It looks like they didn't make that combination of sizes in the stubby line-up. they have a 5/8 - 3/4, but that duplicates one size, and I have a Craftsman stubby with that combination. Hmm...Oh, well. The set of three is still a fun wrench set.

Anyone know what years Stanley put the “S” on these wrenches? What was its significance?C9F6475F-2F88-4277-AD81-B669269C8916.jpeg8C4BE08E-A15F-435D-9CF2-7775D2540829.jpeg15A9430A-6829-4091-9987-5F4048354BEC.jpeg

I’m keeping mine locked up!

I have some short plombs in deep offset up to 13/16, but have not seen the larger sizes in your style

Thanks! Looks like it doesn't exist. So, I'm stuck with 5/16-5/8 in three wrenches. I'm good with that. Really! All three are pocket wrenches, and very useful on older SAE stuff.

The 7/16 x 1/2 one has always been my favorite hand tool of all time. I pretty much always had it in my pocket. That way, I always had those sizes instantly at hand. From battery terminals to radiator fan bolts, you always seemed to need one or the other size. Both 7/16" and 1/2" were the 10mm of those old days. There never was one when you needed it.

I have one of the 1131 3/4" x 5/8" wrenches you mentioned above. I agree that it should be 3/4" x 11/16" to go with the other ones. I wonder why they made it this way.
