Pry Bar Storage

What are you guys using to store your pry bars? I don't have any drawers long enough to store them in a drawer. Been looking at the Sunsex pry bar holders....just wondering if the holes are big enough for the Craftsman pry bars.

Do you need to secure them from theft when not in use or at the end of the day?

What is the longest bar you plan to use or buy?

Do they need to hang or lay flat? If hang, then from a tool box, cart, workbench, pegboard or some other device?

All the above will drive the design of the storage solution for your situation.

I built this cabinet as a way to get hammers out of my tool box (which wastes a lot of space) and as a place to store abnormally long or awkward tools.

I got a locking screwdriver prybar holder. The holes had to be Drilled out larger to fit my pry bars.

I bought a Matco pry bar holder that hangs on the side of your box.It locks and can be bolted down.It will hold 16 if you hang 2 in each slot.

This will be for my home, so security is not a necessity. The longest pry bar I currently own is 31" but I hope to acquire the 36" bar eventually.

I stick mine on the side of my roll cab with some rare earth magnets. I salvaged mine from some old computer hard drives, but you can buy them online. Works great. I twist the pry bar to pull it off and the magnets stay stuck to the tool box. Be careful pulling these out of hard drives. The chrome comes off and the rare earth metals are brittle and their dust is toxic (I don't know how bad it is).

Go to a place like TSC, Lowes, or HD and by a length of aluminum or steel channel. Drill your holes through to hold the prybars, and paint the color of your choice.

I used a length of aluminum angle, milled some slots in it, hung it off the bottom of my Gladiator cabinets and have a dozen air tools hanging off of it. I bought a length of steel angle, popped some 1" holes in it and have all of my R8 mill collets hanging in them beside my mill and it's hanging off my Gladiator cabinets.

I may just have to make something to put my pry bars in now that it's mentioned as I just have them laying in the drawers of my toolbox.

At the end of my workbench I put a piece of strut channel that I had left over from an electrical project. I cut it to length, drilled a couple holes to mount it and had to widen a hole or two in the strut for the larger bars to fit. It keeps everything tidy and out of the way.

It's barely seen in the attached pic but if you look at the arrows you can see the end of the channel and some orange handled Snap-On strike-able bars.

No need to be fancy, 2x4, some spade bits of various sizes...drill holes for each bar, hang the thing on the wall with some angled brackets or hell just another 2x4 forming an L shape, job done.

I made a hanger out of 2" angle aluminum. I'll try to take a picture and post it when I get home.

Right now mine are just on a magnetic rail I picked up at Harbor Freight and bolted to back of my service cart. It keeps them out of the way but still easy to grab.

I've also thought about making come quick holders out of PVC to avoid scratching. A couple inch lengh of 3/4" or 1" PVC and a couple holes to screw it into whatever I like and then slide the bar right in.

Good idea. When ever I come across a toasted HD I always pull out those magnets. Very handy.

At home i use two of the hf magnetic spray can holders that hold 5 screw drivers as well i just drilled out the holes and it works great i have both cman and the cman pros plus 4 lo.g screwdrivers it works perfect for me and what i have
