PTAC questions

a little off subject, but I have a 15x12 sunroom with double pane insulated window walls, spray foam insulated floor and ceiling.
Currently I have a 10k LG 110v thru the wall AC unit which seems to do not much.
I have the power to put in a 240v PTAC unit rated at 12k which would help me in the colder weather as well.
My question is...would the PTAC make any difference? I could go with a 16k PTAC or even an 18k unit.

That small of an area shouldnt take much to cool,Have you tried removing the window ac and cleaning both coils out?
I usually reccomend removing the covers to get access to both sides of coils.

Zmax is right on. Also check and clean the filter frequently. I have to clean my inlaws PTAC coils twice a year. They have a couple of cats that love to hang out in their sun room.

One of the downsides of PTACs and Mini-splits is the filtration is ****. Washable screens are not really all that great for filtering air. If you have a 20x20x2 pleated filter and stretch it out, there is a TON of surface area there. Yet, a PTAC or Mini-split of the same tonnage will try to run all the air thru a 10x20 flat screen.

Long story short, pull it (easy to do, so that is a plus) and clean the inside and outside coils. Wash them the opposite of the airflow to get the junk out.

if the unit is functioning even 1/2 way right you should have a plenty of capacity.
