As I mentioned earlier, I have been busy helping a good friends widow get his shop cleaned out and ready for sale.
Neighbor and I managed to buy some 36" New Age cabinets... 20260310_155627.jpg
20260310_155613.jpgAnd a Gladiator workbench...20260310_162543.jpg
And a Rockler clamp rack with a few clamps...20260310_155548.jpg
20260310_162522.jpgAnd a Delta planer...20260310_155558.jpg
...And six pickup truck loads of power tools, hand tools, toolboxes full of tools, shop stools and a bunch of miscellaneous shop supplies.... so far.
My neighbor bought his collection of oil and gas memorabilia, including vintage glass pump crowns, porcelain signs, and a 6' lighted plastic double sided Amoco highway sign. (His garage is a smaller version of Don Long's Big Party Garage.)

More to come.

The widow is lucky to have your help.
...and our money. We paid her fair market value for all of the bigger items we bought. Some of the smaller tools and miscellaneous stuff we just grouped together and paid by the pile. Told her we would help her load out the machinery if and when it sells. (There is a forklift that that is selling with one of the buildings). Her husband was a good friend and neighbor, we have had a lot of help getting this done, but it's still been quite a task. We had to empty 17 of the New Age cabinets before moving them. (Anyone need more than a hundred cans/bottles/jars/jugs of paint/stain/glue/varnish? Thousands of board feet of rough sawn mixed hardwood lumber?) This was a really impressive hobby shop.

I understand the money as well.
By no means did I mean that you were taking advantage of her.

My wife worries how she is going to deal with my small, by comparison to many, shop let alone get fair market value for “stuff” if I precede her.

My wife swears she’s going first! All kidding aside, I have a couple friends who have pledged to help her if I croak first. One is a Class 3 weapons dealer and car guy so he will help her with my collection. And we have a Fiduciary if it comes to that.

I have a couple good friends that we all have the same agreement, dont just throw away car\s & parts, we will help sell/allocate, etc., we will help manage all that

That's a really nice rack you have there :ROFLMAO:

"One can never have too many clamps"

Wow! Nice haul on those new items, just in time for the new garage to be finished (y) (y)

My landscaper was here yesterday afternoon and most of the day today reworking the pavers around the new garage. 20260311_131514.jpgSince the existing pavers sloped away from the existing garage parallel to the new garage door, we had to install them as a 3 foot wide ramp that tapered from 0 to 4" high over the 16 foot width of the door. It turned out great, IMHO.20260312_152831.jpg

Also eliminated the curve on the west side of the driveway and picked up a few more feet of width. 20260312_152746.jpg

We were able to re-use most of the pavers I have been storing since we remodeled our patio a couple of years ago. They are the same color but tumbled instead of smooth, so we used them as the soldier course on the edges.

More to come.

Shop bathroom is nearly finished...just need to buy an elongated toilet seat. My plumber is stopping by Wednesday to hook up the sinks and toilet. I could do it, but I believe I have mentioned previously how much I hate plumbing...20260316_145657.jpg
Gotta say, that Saniflo macerating toilet was a ***** to install with the pump on the other side of the wall. (working by myself; took a dozen trips back and forth and I ended up having to trim the extension pipe twice. The toilet is bolted through the finished tile to the concrete slab, the pump is fixed into position so I had to creep up on the finished dimension to ensure everything fit without cutting it too short. 20260316_102054.jpgIt was worth the effort, IMO, it really cleans up the look of the bathroom without the pump sitting behind the toilet and the piping running up the wall.

I do love those saniflush toilets. The only problem I ever had with the one I installed was the connection points on the tank for the shower and sink seemed a bit on the short side once you cut the end off.

Turning out great!!

Worked on getting the sliding barn door on the utility closet in the office up today. It matches the full lite office door, but with frosted glass.20260317_152044.jpg

Still waiting on the little 6x7 glass garage door for the Texaco wall and the new high lift kit for the 16 x8 door. Can't finish up my ductwork until the new door hardware is installed. Big ceiling fan needs to wait until after the ductwork, etc... ripple effect. 🫤

Had to enlarge a hole from 1-3/8 to 70mm in a 15" square piece of 1/2" aluminum plate on a little side project for a neighbor. 20260322_151610.jpg Took a while, the swarf kept getting clogged in the clearance holes in the TCT cutter, had to stop and clear them manually a dozen times. Not a big deal; I bought the cutter on Amazon for $9 with the expectation of it being a one-time use anyway.20260322_153245.jpg Happy with the result.

It's a real working GTE single coin slot phone but there is no phone line connected to it. (And I don't have a key for the coin box, anyway.)
OOMA home should be able to feed that payphone (https://www.ooma.com/home-phone-service/basic/) it's been a while but back in high school when i had a day off from the chess club (real popular guy with the ladies) i wired one up to my parents POTS line

Cell Jack might be another option. Basically a Bluetooth to Analog signal converter. Probably just going to leave it as a display phone, too many other projects to go down that rabbit hole..
But if you want to take a break from Chess Club...😉

OK so the big chunk of aluminum is a surprise birthday gift for a good friend.
It's a precision bi-directionally adjustable outdoor Jenga base... 🤣
He is incredibly detail oriented, a bit OCD about the table being perfectly level before they play. It's always interesting watching him level a rickety folding patio table table with a stack of shims. With the big outdoor blocks you need to start about 18-20" off the floor, a conventional dining table is too big to walk around and the stack gets too high to manage towards the end of the game.
So, his wife bought a low patio table and asked me to come up with an obviously over-engineered leveling solution.
I used a 15" square piece of 1/2" aluminum plate, countersunk in a machined aluminum T-level and added four adjustable feet. 20260323_104450.jpg
20260323_104529.jpgHis wife is throwing a surprise birthday party at their place on Friday, looks like we will be playing Giant Outdoor Jenga. Always fun after a few drinks...😜

Making good progress on the garage/shop/office addition. Bathroom is now 100% complete, so I worked this weekend getting the LVT plank flooring down in the office and utility closet.20260323_184253.jpg Went with waterproof Nucore 9" x 72" planks in Auburn Oak from Floor and Decor over blue foam moisture barrier/underlayment from Home Depot (it was half the price online of F&D) I really like way the Nucore floor goes down but I wish they had a little more variety in the color and grain variations in this pattern20260323_184304.jpg

Should be able to start running baseboards tomorrow; using pre-primed finger jointed 1×4 pine, have a bunch of 12' long boards that I painted last night sitting on sawhorses in the garage ready to install.20260323_203220.jpg

More to come.
