While I was waiting for the concrete contractor to grace me with his presence I had time to work on getting the Christmas sleigh put back together.
Took a while, I had to shorten a few dozen bolts so I could use stainless acorn nuts on everything exposed.
Really happy with how this turned out. 20251115_134100.jpg20251115_134042.jpg
20251115_134034.jpgWife gets back from visiting the grandkids tonight, she'll be surprised to see it finished up. We still have to sort out how to secure the cushions; probably just drill a few holes to run the ties through. Then she can start decorating it for the photo booth at our big neighborhood Christmas party.

Found a picture of the garage before I started filling it up. This house actually has 5 garage spaces- my side is the 3- car, my wife has the 2-car that’s perpendicular to this one. She’s the one that wanted more garage/shop space; she was tired of me bitching about working around our cars in a (barely) two car garage. Originally this was all one space, but I put up a wall to keep my shop mess out of her side (and so I could add A/C to the shop side someday)84BB80A4-2C1F-4C42-94D7-94951EA7D097.jpeg
nice pics, and garage.

Concrete crew didn't get here until 10:00 (had another pour first thing this morning ) but still made decent progress today.
Got all the stemwall forms stripped, pad rough graded and compacted, two trailer loads of ABC spread. Still have to form up the 4" raised sections for the office and half bath and pour those sections next. 20251118_165802.jpg 20251118_165858.jpgMain slab will be poured last. Hopefully the weather will cooperate. Had intermittent rain today; mostly just a light drizzle, not enough to stop working.

Good progress bud, I hope it keeps up. It rained all day up here.

Where’s the plumbing stubs at or do you still need to trench those in?
Going with a Saniflo macerator toilet, no viable way to get to the main sewer line. (It's on the opposite side of the house...) Going overhead to a vent/drain stack serving the garage sink and laundry room. Plan to hide the drain and hot/cold supply lines in a soffit.

You're gonna like that SaniFlow toilet if you haven't used one before. I put one in a basement I had one time and they're the bees knees for that stuff. I even had a shower and sink tied into mine.

Keith, it was the best solution for this shop addition. No way to get to a buried drain line without tearing up finished slabs in the garage and house. There is a vent/drain stack with a clean out we can tie into in the wall between one of the existing garages and house. Putting everything in a shallow soffit should be an easy way to cover the exposed piping. Plumber is on board with the plan.

How’d you make out on the rain this morning. I was checking for snow around 3 and noticed you guys were looking wet.

View from my future office window...

Scott, that's just like the view from my current office window.
Office View 1.jpg
Except for the flora, mountains and really nice house in the distance. Oh, wait, that's Windows 11. My actual window is in the background...
Office View 2.jpg
It's a view. When I'm bored, I minimize the applications and one of the 27 images of Sydney I use for my screen background looks back at me.

Concrete now scheduled for 6:00 AM on Wednesday. Two separate pours, trying to keep the weight down on the paver driveway. (Especially after all the rain)

🤞

Good reason to celebrate Turkey Day! Hope all goes splendid!
Hooold on, all stop. Ain’t this Wednesday like a Friday cept on a Wednesday???

If my mammaries serve me correctly. These guys have a bad habit of going **** up on Fridays even if it is a Wednesday it might still be a Friday 🙄

Don't jinx it with facts, Cam. I realize that hope is not a course of action, but that's all I got now. 🤨

Concrete crew was here at 6:00 thus AM, inspector dinged them on a missing 2' long piece of rebar. They fixed it and the inspector is supposed to be back this afternoon to sign off on it so they can pour tomorrow.
Exterminator was also here this AM to sterilize the compacted ABC, required no more than 72 hours before any slab pours in AZ.

It's looking like we might actually have a foundation tomorrow...

In anticipation of a 2-post lift in the future, I welded up a 12' long rebar grid to accommodate the lift bolt pattern and we added 3" to the depth of the pour around it. 20251126_083831.jpg
Don't know if I will ever add the lift, but the floor will be ready if and when I make that decision. Made sure to locate and mark it for future reference. 20251125_113645.jpg
