This guy in particular was very excited to take "Wroofus" home with him, he will be guarding his room from evil! When you make a kid smile with some old rusty junk it is priceless!!! :rocker:

Great stuff guys. I want to do some of this, but it's tougher to find junk than I would have expected. It's either prized posessions where folks figure it's an antique and want more than retail at garage sales, or it's been disposed of to land fills. Non-automotive junk yards don't seem to exist anymore.

I did luck out at the dump reclaim store the other day in picking up some 3x6 steel tube. Short 3-4' pieces, but it should make a nice picnic or welding table.

I think I have to start more projects that generate junk....

Made this out of a bike frame/forks and a piece of square tubing I got dumpster diving. The horizontal and angle parts are the bike parts welded together.

I put out a request to my friends for "junk" and they have came through in a big way. I trade them a finished piece if they bring me rusty gold. Most things they bring are from farm auctions or garage sales. But i have been finding lots of stuff at the antique stores around here, it's the stuff in the boxes under the high dollar pieces at these places. I have not paid more than $3 for a large antique pipe wrench. Most are a $1 and are very plentiful around here.

I use silverware in the flowers I make, I can bundle silverware at garage sales with some other larger items and get it for free most of the time.

"Hardly Davidson" just rode into existence today! He is a donation to a silent auction to benefit kids dealing with cancer at a local Camp.

I build functional stuff as well, this is our CJ7 we have had 16yrs. It has undergone several variations and improvements over the years. The only original pieces are the 304 block and heads, radiator core support and the instrument panel. Dana 60 front, 14 bolt rear and Atlas 4 speed transfer case get me wherever the trail leads. Profile pic is one of those places:3gears:

A few more pieces added to the pile. The Jeep grille only lasted a few minutes on FB before it sold and I have been told to make 4 more. Must be a Jeep thing:thumbup:

...Some people just have an eye for this form of art. Extremely cool stuff!

BTW, there's very little fab work done on these pieces. When I met Paul he said he had a few basic hand/power tools, and that's about it.

I could look at this stuff all day! I grow attached to the pieces I have made and struggle with parting with them, the flying pig is a good example...sold the first one so I made another. I smile every morning when he greets me outside my shop.

Had a local artist put this piece together for my son, who brought home a drinking horn while away in school in Copenhagen. 3 Wrenches and a gear, simple.

I do art shows with my work and usually there is a metal art guy or two, your stuff is superior in imagination and craftsmanship than most I have seen. Great stuff!

cool stuff!

love the horseshoe crabs,
and the valve cover power bar is brilliant!

Was not me that built it, but I was involved in this construction project where they installed a "junk" T-Rex.

New piece, a seven slot grille made from the guts of an old small block. And a pic of us set up at the Jeep Creep last weekend in Gladwin MI, 425 Jeeps attended. Ironman Offroad booth next to us is the business I sold to a good friend when I went back to full time fab work. If you want the best customer service in the offroad industry give Dale a call at 989 832 7538.

A few more pieces have been created at Creative Acres. The business card holder is one of my most recent best sellers. Mostly to service writers at Jeep dealerships.
