Here's a couple of pix of my old axe. She's probably 30 years old, bought at one of the big box stores. The second pic is zoomed on the faded label. It's hard to make out the brand, but it may be "Collins".

The handle was almost completely out of the head. I had to use my Blue Point dead blow to drive it back on before I could use it. I then put a wood screw into the top to secure it.

Too funny. I believe the axe head sitting on my workbench is IDENTICAL to that. I have no idea where mine came from other than probably my dad's shed some years back. It had a curved handle because it was left leaning up against a wall for a few years. NEVER lean a wooden handled anything against the wall.

Anyway, in my estimation, the steel seems decent quality and worth a new handle. So, that's what I'm gonna do...I just hafta haft the axe head with new handle...hain't that hard...

That bend in the handle--I didn't realized that's from leaning it against the wall. When storing an axe, should you lay it flat? Thanks.

No! Sorry, not the bend in that handle in your picture - that is certainly there by design. Imagine leaning that axe up against a wall to the side. Over time, the handle on the axe I had curved to the one side.
